Since the RR and BP were nerfed, and the actual Caldari assault bonus sucks a bit in comparison to the other assault suits, why not making the bonus able to reduce 5% the kick or the charge up time per level? I think it would make the Caldari assault way more competitive.

Reload bonus on the Cal suits are awesome. Even if the guns have been hurt to help other players whom don't have skill to play against the Cal Weapons.
Over 60+ Million SP and full proto in all Caldari Suits. No matter how hard CCP tries Dust just won't die on PS3/Xbox.

The problem with the Caldari Assault is trying to figure out a decent passive for them based on their role of "y'all are supposed to be at medium to far range." The kick only really matter when you are not Aiming Down Sights and at medium to far range you likely are so reducing in kick kind of goes against that principal. Reduce Charge Time is pretty good but it would have to be a fairly beefy number to matter. 5% per level 'only saves' .125 seconds on the Rail Rifle, .075 seconds on the Assault Rail, and .1 on the Bolt (I forget the Magsec charge time).
250 milliseconds is about the average to blink, according to Mr. Google. So even the biggest increase difference is still HALF the time of something you do about 15 times a minute. With lag, the difference is even more unnoticeable.
That is the problem with the Caldari bonuses and weapons; the weapons are pretty good so the bonuses can't easily make up for their downside. Making the weapons better at what they do would mean a greater optimal range but that is Sharpshooting all over again. "I have skills so my bullets go farther" is something that CCP wanted to beat to death with a shovel, and rightly so. What can the Caldari Assault bonus do? I dunno but faster reload is weak sauce...

I 100% agree with what Joseph said.
Assault suits have bonuses over their weapons because doing so won't make it OP but juste better.
Caldari weapons are already quite good and giving them a buff other than reload would either change nothing, or make them OP.
What I'd be up for is a buff of max ammo (like 5%) + the actual reload time. One of the drawback of the RR/BoP is to have small amount of ammo, increasing it could be a good bonus added to a faster reload time : not OP and useful.

I would like a very small almost invisible 'perk' for my Caldari Assault dropsuit, but I don't see it as 'worth the dev's time'

No.... Reducing the charge-up time is ridiculous and unnecessary. People forget that the Charge Sniper Rifle exist or something? -.-
And the clip size for the weapons is fine, honestly.
What I would love as a bonus for the Caldari Asaault would be a 10% hip fire kick reduction and a 5% kick reduction while aim down sights per level.
The numbers can be changed for something more realistic, but that would be ideal.
Yes, I use the Rail Rifle AT RANGE and sometimes that kick leaves my opponent with a sliver of health left as they run away.
And close quarter combat is something inevitable. It's not my preferred method to engage enemies, but it's a fact in this game. You will engage enemies in close quarters, an my assault's side arm would only go so far in applying DPS. |
