From a realistic persective.
I'm not talking about a what if the rail rifle were real how would it behave thing.
No, I'm talking relative to my experience with an automatic weapon, the rail rifle kick is no worse than a SAW or any machine gun type weapon. I bring up reality to say that it is simply all in the way you handle it. Yeah full auto kicks like a mule. So, you have to constantly pull your crosshairs down.
It is the equivilent of having to pull the muzzle down with your forehand on the stock and press the weapon into your shoulder.
That being said it sucks that the RR is still good for CQ.

The rail rifle needed more recoil, and it would've been better to just hardcode all rifles or so, including the rail rifle, to have a range margin that inhibits them from doing damage in ranges that are too short, and some sort of falloff damage type effect, like dispersion so they become more inaccurate the closer they get to the edge of their effective range(with certain precision weapons having little fallof but major recoil) Certain plasma rifle variants and combat rifles, those kind of short ranged weapons won't be useable in CQC, but not completely(meaning they have a slight affinity for it, but won't be too viable compared to a sidearm) and some reduced damage in very short ranges. The precision weapons(Rail rifle, possibly)tactical weapon variants, laser/scrambler rifles, etc) Are programmed to do no damage in CQC, major damage reduction in short ranges, and slight damage reduction in medium ranges. I'm sure no one should be using a viziam scrambler rifle as a sidearm in extreme cqc, and I'm sure no weapon should have super range effectiveness while hinering sidearm use.
People that can't achieve greatness without exploitation don't deserve to exist. Enroll in scout erradication today.

In my experience the SAW is much easier to manage because I'm huge, and because loaded it weighs about twice as much as an M-16. The heft and weight of a drum mitigate the worst of the recoil. The gas system absorbs a lot as well.
That being said: rock & roll at your own risk. That thing can be uncontrollable if you aren't braced properly. Especially in the bottom half of the drum.

And I never jammed a SAW wiithout using blanks.
I figured out how to seat the gas tube JUST SO. But my MOS was machinegunner so performance tweaking at grunt level was critical to me.

Yeah, I was 0311 marine rifleman. In the 90s the rifleman carried the SAW.

I learned how to tweak the SAW in SOI. That was a good learning experience for operating the 240s.
Both of those weapons are why the sentinel being CQC drives me insane. It's like trying to justify hip firing 'Ma Deuce. Doesn't make sense to have a heavy weapon be a CQC operator while using balistic mechanics.

breach ar has zero recoil. the rr got nerfed hard. instead of general quality and usability in all weapons ccp wants us to play scissors paper rock for some reason.
thr rr was a lazy weapon i admit. but it still didnt need the nerf
