A simple suggestion, if you're of a mind for ADS.
Would it be possible to tether the camera to right stick and movement to left stick? Basically tank controls on the ADS. Allow them to move the front turret independent of the dropship, and move left/right turning to the left stick. Left stick will move the dropship, right stick will move the camera/front turret.
This will necessitate some relearning to dropship pilots, but I believe it will bring about more ease-of-use for ADS. It will be easier to track a tank that rabbits back and forth, adjusting aim left and right will become easier since you don't swing around the entire ship, and makes drivebys as talked about ages ago much easier.
Proof that Rattati/CCP do listen to the playerbase.

That control system works reasonably for a fixed wing aircraft that has thrust applied from the rear, but dropships are much more akin to helicopters. You don't need to bank, you stop and spin.
Removing yaw as a control removes the entirely point of the dropship's usefulness as a transport and as air support.
Now, if this were implemented as some kind of activated control (hit X, ship levels and turret is unlocked) then that would have some value.

So where does roll go?
Left: Roll (L/R) and Pitch (Forward/Back) Right: Yaw (L/R) and Aim (F/B)
Edit: point is, if you switch Yaw and Roll, you've still got aiming issues: rolling will cause your shots to go wild as much if not more than Yaw. At least yawing on the same stick keeps the axis's similar: left controls major ship movements while right controls the minor ship movements and aiming of the nose turret.

I dont think he is of a mind for ADS actually, judging by their current state. |
