Although I am quite ecstatic about all the changes and the many new additions to come, I can't help but feel that this is CCP's last attempt to go out with a bang before finally shutting down DUST 514. Yes, the IP will continue to live on through CCP's Project Legion (if ever it is greenlit), but I feel that my days on this particular game are numbered.
Anyone feel the same? |

There are numerous new ways for players to spend Aurum.
Stacking boosters?
Instant boosters?
BPO's? There are others I am too tired to list.
The ridiculously high weekly SP cap of 750,000!? It can be triple quintuple boosted (exaggerated for effect).
It feels like an all out cash grab blitz going out of business sale, doesn't it?
Allow me to say, I hope I am wrong, and even if I'm not...well, I studied Business in college. I don't blame them one bit.

DUST is safe until Legion gets a beta up and running.
Until then, CCP wouldn't stop DUST 514 as long as it's making a profit.

When they announced the extended cap to 750,000 SP
They normally did an extend SP event for this amount, now it is the norm?
I'm sure this team is under a lot of pressure to show a strong player base especially with competition like Destiny so they must feel like they can't hold anything back as far as content and features.
I think they are all in and I hope we at least get another year of Dust |

your assuming legion will be greenlit. reaction to it was negative and they said theyd only do it if the community supported it.
they should put it on ps4 instead of pc though. if it happens. pc shooters are awful.
Don't vote for iron wolf saber.
Vote for someone who will help the community i.e. anyone else.

destiny was an overhyped game that didnt deliver. its lazy and shallow so its not really competition. look how quick titanfall died. literally all you see online is people saying how awful destiny is.

Legion will be Multiplier FPS game base on unlocks, not on SP. So in order to transfer Dust character to Legion your total SP will be somehow divined on unlock points and then transferred to Legion - is it makes sense?

I remember watching the livestream of Fanfest 2014 when the whole crowd (at least 99% of it Eve players) erupted with cheers and joy when CCP Rouge said Legion is going to be for PC.

PC is only good for a few things. Mods, ****, Skyrim, MMO's but not shooters.

This is not at all an accurate business analogy and I believe if you think through it more you will realize this.
It is possible to maximize revenue in the short term and at the same time cannibalize your long term business model.

What are red flags to me are the Aur for respec option in addition to the market.
They keep saying they are going to try and migrate as many items as possible, and both of these make that a little less advantageous to Dust veterans when moving to Legion.
Regarding respecs, its like it doesn't matter long term where we put our SP, so what does it matter?
With the Market, they can eat up some of the BPOs that are out there, and validate creating greater ISK sinks to reduce the amount in the economy.
No more Sprint Glitch? This party is going to be off the hook!

I believe that what you guys are getting now (my ps3 died, no 'we' at the mo) are features and tid bits to test for legion.
I think dust has a good year, maybe a bit more left before people simply get taken away by the next gen games coming and legion itself.
I might buy a ps3 again but being anal, I'm not cool with how much they currently cost brand new. There's no way I'd buy some second hand Frankenstein.
I'm quite content with the ps4 and PC at the mo.
Edit: read patch notes and getting a new ps3 after Xmas.

I believe at lest 6 months left, we are probably beta testing legion maps now.
I thought this game would be shut down by now so im just enjoying what we get.
unless CCP is loosing a boatload of money, according to Rouge, and other things Ive read on the internet this is a "moderately successful game" im moderately optimistic it will be around for a while

I love this game to death as I did when I first started playing, but the days are numbered. I knew the game was doomed when I first heard of project legion, Now I will play Dust and hope legion will come to next gen consoles.. If this game survives another year than I will have played another year. If Legion comes to PS4 it will be a next gen Dust which is epic, but I've rambled on enough.

Dust is a ftp game where the servers are already paid for so I think we can be confident that dust will go to the end of the ps3s lifetime. CCP is stupid, but would be dumber to stop it anytime before that. It's essentially low effort bux for CCP to have new players buy aur for bpo suits and whatever other junk they think up.
I cannot think of any reason that EVE, Valk, Dust and Legion couldn't all be up and running at the same time. Dust could stay part of the FW experience, while legion could take us in a different direction that -hopefully- has meaning in null sec. |
