I understand that it's a legacy design thing, but I really feel that the increased isk costs to variant weapons (and possibly equipment) should be done away with. It doesn't serve any real purpose other than to seemingly hurt the wallet of players who like a little variety - I mean there's been major pushes to make all weapons roughly balanced in terms of performance so why aren't they roughly equivalent in performance?
Not trying to sound ranty, but I'd love to see isk cost normalization pushed into a hotfix.

I do think the variants should cost more, but not ~70% more. That's rediculous.
Maybe reduce it to 25% more. Even less maybe.

Its cause the variants mimic other weapons so lets look at the AR for example:
TAC AR= Scrambler
Breach AR= Rail rifle
Burst AR= Combat rifle
You pay extra isk to have footstep into a different weapon category. Other weapons do this aswell.
Bright is the opposite of dark! Who would have thought of that?!

It serves no tangible or beneficial gameplay purpose.
All it can do is be justified by lore and contrived mental gymnastics; but it can't be justified by cold hard gameplay or balance reasons.
Price normalization is the way to go.
