Join the club Aria. My PS3 YLOD about 3 weeks ago. I only play the forum game now.
EDIT: I haven't had time to try doing the quick fix with a heat gun, yet. It only last a short time after that anyway. Contemplating getting a cheap super slim if it drops below -ú100 at christmas. Or a PS4 and pray for Dust/Legion on PS4.
The slow blade penetrates the shield.

I pressume it was 40gb fat one?!
If so, leave that for few in cold place, late turn it on just by pushing eject button 
Issue is you termopaste between board with CPU and GPU is burn out, you must make console for few second really cold, becuase thermostat turning it down due overheating of CPU.
Try to put console for while outside or near open window and turn it on by eject button later, it should help to ejectind blue-ray 
Any other thignies with console are basicaly gone, even if you change thermopaste it will be just for few weeks, maybe a month.
But later YLOD again, sadly

This happened to me 2-3 years back. I had a disc stuck as well. I don't remember the exact solution but I googled it. There is a way that will cause the console to spit the disc out. Hold down power while eject or some such..
It works. You will save the disc but the console is likely kaput.
Edit: maybe you can find a used PS3 on craigs list? I sold mine YLOD after that happened there. The guy wanted it for parts. One that works of course.

Still basicaly first serie, that a issue.
YLOD was solved with new gen of slims.
Doesnt matter, if you have YLOD only thingie what is possible is take out that BR, disc and BR mechanique.
Anything other can be time/limited resolved by change of thermopaste.
Buth thats just really for few weeks.
If you want dust you will need new ps3 or wait for Legion or Valkyrie, sorry

Nope that overheat test what is not recommended for anyone, because you basicaly overheating you system.
Its test what basicaly bypass thermostat and fully overheat system for fan recheck.
Only way is take temp down or take it on pieces (by yourself or some electromechanic).

Just be carefull, you can still sell BR mechanique for some greenies and save harddrive
Btw you will need this and do not mess screws, its hard to take it aout if you mess their heads

180euro, but what i know one of my friends sent it twice and console died later.
You can try, maybe you will be lucky one.
But hinestly you can have a new one for same price ( i saw new p3 slimline 360gb for 190)

BTW these scredriwerd are awesome thingie, i remember how i acually one time use them for lockpickin' a trezor in my job (they lost keys), hell im MATARI even in real life

Yeah I needed one before back when my 360 died(same thing with the overheating) but never got it. Now I'll have one for the future haha

Meh it's passed warranty and I don't really care. It lasted a long life, I just want the game out haha. PS4 is my only concern now.
Only thing I'm mad about is not being able to play 1.9
