I suggest we remove the SP cap entirely.
It was voted on during the beta when players were receiving 25,000 SP per match payouts that allowed motivated players to hit cap and relax in an afternoon, let people take a break and not burn out on the grimd.
When we voted for the cap, no one was informed that the per-match SP was hoing to be sharply curtailed the way it was. Bluntly given the lower payouts on SP and the low likelihood of people with jobs and families ever hitting cap I think we may as well get rid of it or bring up the SP/Match payouts closer to chrome levels.

Still no.
The reason: In no cap environment a good number of people would open up everything in matter of weeks, maybe few months.
Given the speed of new content and skills introduction to game, especially in hotfix era, new things to open up could never keep at pace.
And trust me, when there's nothing to aim for, nothing new to open up - people get bored and quit game. That's how human being behaves.
People would enjoy Dust a lot more if they accepted the fact that EVERYTHING is subject to change

None of what you say will be reduced by leaving in place.
The most common complaints I have heard from new players IRL is that DUST is too grindy (low progression per match means people burn out trying to reach the cap each week)
And they feel that the lack of progression means they will never "catch up."
The number of people obsessive enough to buy boosters for every day their characters exist as well as being willing to drop 6-8 hours per week in excess of eight months are in the sharp minority. No-lifers exist but the rest of us have jobs and school. The cap made sense when players were getting 25k/match SP rewards.
It doesn't make nearly as much sense after said rewards were cut to 1/4th or 1/5th depending on your SP spread. All that did was make it take the equovalent of a work day of effort to make some progress.
The current iteration of SP caps don't add anything to the game except another irritation in a learning cliff game.
We bang on the NPE. Well that right there is a massive roadblock on the NPE. It also affects a lot of veteran players who are quite frankly over the desire to grind.
The way it's set up lessens the fun in actually PLAYING the game. Because for the most part, gamers are over their love for spending the equivalent of another part time job to achieve and retain parity.
I'm at the point where I think a pure time-based system would be better just so people could afford to take a break once in a while.

I have been on the top of the leaderboard a few times and I've noticed that in the ambush game mode, the Sp rewards just aren't that good.

They can try that in Legion.
I don't want any drama going on when the time comes to transfer SP to Legion.

At this point, and correct me if I'm wrong, but Legion is not even a real thing yet.

in an earlier suggestion about SP cap the devs did mention they are reviewing the weekly skill cap amount. mainly because when they settled on the 190k SP weekly cap due to ccps magical math that decided that was a good SP cap to have. since then though they've pretty much doubled perhaps trebbled the amount of available skills to train and so the 190k weekly cap is outdated and they are in process of workign out an increased weekly cap (probs by about 50%) perhaps its gonna be one of the few suprises in tomorrows 1.9 devblog

Removal of cap - and other alternatives - were trashed in favour of Rolling Cap (tm) which got both best arguments and best support for it.
As it was never implemented, you'd be wiser to keep pushing for that to happen.

It's been two years since that was the big push. If we don't have it now we will never have it.

Well, I don't know about removing it entirely but how does 750k per week grab you?
It'll be pretty hard to burn through all of that in a week I'd think (and I have no lifed this game hard at times) so it has most of the same merits, no?
Cheers, Cross
See a cool idea thread? Mail me the title and I'll take a look =)

Welp. Not what I was hoping for but the devs are making progression suck less. I'm finding it hard to hold onto my cynicism.
Far as I'm concerned this thread is now dead.
