Taken from the Battlefield Wiki: The "Commo Rose" allows a player to quickly send pre-set messages to other players. The Commo Rose is helpful for players who don't have headsets with microphones. Some commands cause icons to be displayed for teammates, alerting them of your status.
As all of you should know by now, the field order screen for DUST squads can only be used by the squad leader and this means squad members and PC solo players have little to no communication with one another in a game where teamwork is very much needed. Corps with Headsets obviously don't suffer from lack of communication as often because they can constantly and effectively relay info to their team which leads to massive stomps in every game mode where the opposing team is filled with players who have essentially no effective form of communication. IMO the fact that in this game only squad leaders and well fitted corps are capable of utilizing communication to their advantage is a major problem for a game so focused on role diversity with the idea of other players running different roles in order to compensate for one anothers' weaknesses. So please take another look at this image.
I believe that having an effective in-game feature such as Battlefields "Commo Rose" be available to every merc in new eden (not just squad leaders) is something that seriously needs to happen. The ability to ask for ammo, ask for reps, request back-up and say simple things like: "Area Clear!" or "Enemy Spotted!" is something that every single player should have access to without the need to use a MIC/Headset. I can't count all of those times when my buddies were in danger because an enemy had gotten behind our backs and I was the only one who noticed but was unable to warn them because I wasn't using a Headset or when that Heavybro ran out of ammo and had to roll into a corner and cry at his inability to express his need for nanites or when... well, you get what I mean by now.
My point: We need better communication and I believe that allowing the field orders that currently are only accesable to squad leaders be available in a similar function to every player. Things such as marking an enemy, asking for a medic, requesting back-up in order to hack an objective and invoking the suppliers of nanites should be something everyone has access to. Please add a screen that enables us to better relay our needs to others and help guide others when the ones who should be guiding us aren't doing so, because we won't always have the blessing of being under the command of a competent leader or in constant chat with our corpbuds.
I apologize if I dragged the above text out for too long, I'm no forum warrior and I'm not very good at simplifying my thoughts in a way that's short and simple for others to understand without the need of a text wall. Thank's for taking the time to read.

Here's an idea for this.
So the current squad commands are brought up by pulling up the weapon wheel and clicking R3 (for default layout) so why not have these other options come out when the weapon wheel is open and click L3?
We could have the nanohive symbol for need ammo, the revive symbol for need repair, the attack symbol for enemy spotted... Can't think of any others off the top of my head.
Proof that Rattati/CCP do listen to the playerbase.

Another good command would be the "Request Order" command, you bring up the new options with L3 that are available to every player and when you use the "Request Order" option the current squad leader command wheel pops up on the players screen and after selecting a command the message is sent to your squad leader to await his approval.

This would be very helpful for people without micGÇÖs, or for anyone who wants to mark a tank or sniper for his squad. Not to mention the fact that one of my Corp members is deaf.
I propose R2 + L3 to bring up a selection wheel similar to the squad orders but usable for any squad member.
-Need Reps -Need Ammo -Flag hostile -Flag location -Need backup
Color should be different from a Squad order.

Sounds like a good way to get your squad leader killed.

Gotta figure out how to get him killed SOMEHOW.

I think a good alternative to R2+L3 for bringing up the squad member wheel is R2+2(R3) for squad leaders and R2+R3 for squad members. |
