Simple, I think it's be beneficial for the sniper rifle range to be increased. The current is too short to be useful in competitive play, and to my knowledge the previous range never made it overpowered.
Might it be possible to increase it back? Or at least to a halfway point?

Gotta say, I'm loving snipers now. I think the range could go up by maybe 100m at the very most, but I see no reason that it NEEDS to happen.
Mercs whine about the rail rifle but refuse to shield tank to counter it.
But that's none of my business.

The only thing snipers are useful for is roof campers. If people couldn't camp upon inaccessible places, they wouldn't belong in the game period. The maps are way too open and disproportionately favour height/ or have any other untactical features for it to be fair for snipers to exist here.
Antisocial players don't deserve their solo gameplay.

Nope, I can finally counter-snipe people that think they are invincible in the redline...and it feels really cool. Don't change a thing...except fixing any hit-detection issues with it.(which i get on occasion)
Edit:or put the sniper range back and reduce the damage to ludicrously low levels so the risk vs. reward factor would balance out.

Your right, the shortened range wasn't a large enough change to get snipers out of the redline. What your proposing though does nothing to solve the risk reward imbalance caused by players being able to kill, or even just damage enemies, with basically zero risk to themselves.
If I was feeling trolly I'd say decrease the snipers range even further since, as you have correctly pointed out, snipers are still primarily in the redline. Their range needs to be around the 200m mark to force them to find places to shoot from that also carry a risk equivalent to their ability to kill.
I am not feeling troll-like though so I will propose something entirely different. The issue with the risk reward balance isn't the sniper rifles themselves but actually the whole redline. The redline is intended to be a place where you can safely call vehicles and/or organize prior to moving out to attack or defend. It is not a place that people should be actively playing from. To combat this there really needs to be a timer placed on being in the redline.
A player should get 3 min. in the redline when they first spawn. After that they are given 10 second to after the redline or die (just like the enemy redline). Entering the redline again will start the 10 sec timer. Additionally any kills from the redline are worth zero wp.
If such a system was implemented than the snipers current range and damage would be fine.
Now with more evil.

If the redline is removed snipers may have their range back.
Until then, no.

Reduced damage depending on distance into redline/away from battle zone.
35m into redline? 10% reduction. 80m? 55% reduction. 100m? 75%. And so on...

Why should snipers be allowed to position themselves to kill other players and be immune to retaliation from all but one weapon class?
Answer me this with logic and thought and I will consider supporting the idea.
Oh and for all you ignorants educated about snipers by hollywood?
Average real world sniper lifespan from the moment he fires is 21 seconds. Same as a machinegunner. Both usually die the same way.
