I just looked into this and my client was 5.2 GB (I had reinstalled about a year ago apparenlty) and after deleting and redownloading (including the updates) the client is only 2.3 GB. I suspect this will have some serious ramifications for load times and perhaps even for game play, though this will all require testing and there is no easy way to provide anything other than annecdotal evidene thanks to my lack of a recording device.
Still, it might be worth a try if you are experiencing a lot of issues of late.

Ahhhh, I remember back in early closed it was common practice to constantly reinstall because of a nasty memory leak that would easily start screwing with the game.
I recall one person posting a picture showing 16MB on the game info page of his XMB. He checked what was going on with the game because it had eaten up his PS memory to the point that it was 100% full and his PS3 stated having seizures from trying to run the game.

I may be missing something, but I'm pretty sure that I didn't call for a tank nerf before Uprising 1.7. - Atiim

I have experience hard crashes related to these issues recently (5.7GB client), and you can take a look at a large number of helpful ideas here: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2413361#post2413361
best of luck!

I checked my client. 5+ GB, nearly 6 GB which is tiny really but I am still going to delete and reinstall the newer smaller compact client.
Apart from my menu settings going to default, all of my fits and stuff are saved server side right?

Everything is stored server side (character, items, fits) as long as you have access to your psn name.
Menu items are likely not to be saved as they're not attached to your psn.
