no because poor netcoding will fuk your day up sure itll render pretty, but try shoot at someone whos still teleporting all over solves nothing :(
Give me ammo types or give me burst RRs! Death is irrelevant.

When they say "rendering optimizations" they mean by making it load efficiently rather than more pretty. If they wanted to make it look more pretty they would've called it a "graphics improvement" instead.

I've come up with a theory that it's the number of moving objects that really bogs down the engine. For instance, you're much more likely to get low frame rates when there are a lot of enemy in your screen (during a zerg, for example).
Regardless of all the other things, I agree with Reg that this could end up being the single most important change in 1.9.
That said, I am VERY excited about the new maps and socket. |

This is the reason why we have such poor rendering performance. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2408382#post2408382

I'd really, really like the game to actually run properly for once but I imagine it'll be a couple of FPS improvement at best.

The way that kevall longstride described it, the game engine is rendering nearly everything regardless of your individual position on the map. If my naive understanding of that is correct, then that would be a huge resource drain, especially on something like a PS3. I'm amazed we get the frame rates we get at the moment.
Obviously the game was designed with huge maps, but we only play a small section of these landscapes. If memory usage can be optimised (really optimised) it should make a major noticeable difference. I don't know anything about how the unreal 3 engine streams textures and stuff though.

Any % improved performance would be a god send.
A mix of optimisations, re-workings of the rendering systems and Rattati's ideas to mix the lag monster outposts with much more memory efficient smaller sockets should bring some performance improvements.

since im not a poor, the new map and higher fps is the only thing that interests me.
Im not very optimistic on how big the improvements on fps are going to be im assuming they will be barley noticeable if noticeable at all.

Maybe under normal conditions, but when you're in a map that has a lot of things going on at once while you're busy fighting an incoming hoard of redberries then you might notice the frame-rate improvement should this fix ever be implemented.

In other words, if I'm in the basement of the Gallente Research Facility then my PS3 shouldn't be continuously rending the upper floors other than the two hallways that connect to the basement.
