This would more or less balance eWAR, and encourage med frames to run moderate eWAR, as well as discourage scouts from becoming "Assault Lite" because dodging scans requires so much sacrifice, and if they are not dodged, you die.
Quote:For radar--directional should only show if your scan precision is 60% or lower of their profile
So scout with max skills can directional an unskilled heavy but nothing else, sees everything else as a dot that is 36 db or over
Am scout with a prec. of 17 can directional anything 28.3 db or over, this being the lowest possible dB that one could be directionaled at.
Will really add some more balance to the game's eWar by changing it from a binary win-lose situation
Also gives reason to run precision other than just picking up scouts.
In addition, precision enhancers have a small penalty on range, while range enhancers have a small penalty on precision (both very small, but added for the sake of balance)
Active scanners continue to show the direction regardless of scan strength.
In addition- -Buff scan range on all suits other than sentinel and scout by 5 meters to make the eWAR differences between suits (mainly mediums and Heavies) more pronounced. (No more sneaky HMG heavy, unless they fit to be sneaky). Bring commando scan precision equal to assault. -Remove shared passive scans -Active Scanners now share results with the entire team -Active Scanners get greatly increased scan angles
This would result in 1. Dampeners being useful on medium suits 2. Range amps and precisions being useful on medium suits 3. Suits would be at much less of a loss when they are scanned, unless they are an HMG heavy, in which case they can rely upon superior stats in every other way. 4. Makes a shift from Best eWAR: Scout, everyone else has no class of their own other than bad, to Best eWAR: Scout, Middle eWAR: Mediums, Worst eWAR: Sentinels/Heavies
"Minmitar Scout" and "Masochist" are synonyms.

I'd just like to say that one thing I'd love to add to the proposal is for passive scans to be pulsed rather than constant.

Meaning you can hide if you keep your distance.

But if that happened, all suits would need a scan range buff

What do you think would be good?

I think it is one of those trial and error things where we don't really know how that time frame will play in the field. It may be too long or too short, but it is really hard to say without putting it through the paces.
This is something that could also vary depending on suit type. Like Scout 0.5 second pulse, Medium frames 0.75 second pulse, and Heavy frames 1.0 second pulse. Again something that can be played with, if it is included at all.

Just tossing out a thoughtGǪ pulse interval related to range. Longer the range you have the greater the interval on pulse. A module to modulate the pulses differently would add extra funGǪ

So with this system, how many precision enhancers would an assault require to pick up a fully tanked gallente/caldari scout with no dampeners and just a proto-cloak on, or would that even be possible? You know, a gallente scout with like 1k HP. (shield extenders and armor plates and weapons and thats it.)

This changes nothing on detection balance as is, as that is now almost perfect, though I personally feel that the cloak should have a better dampening bonus, but Rattati believes that what we have no is almost perfect balance, and he has much more balancing knowledge, and overall, I have a lot of respect for him for working with the players (barbershop in particular), and feel that if he finds something balanced, its balanced.

I am sorry I can not support a thread where assaults are completely left out, even when sacrificing every single mid slot they have against a fully tanked scout. Assaults should have a way to protect themselves from a scout with assault HP, this thread claims otherwise.
I'll leave the thread at that.

However, assaults are getting an eWAR buff (in range) so that they can leverage their own eWAR over Sentinels and some commandos just as much as Scouts will be able to leverage superior eWAR over assaults.
The basic and very dumbed down premise of my main idea (side ideas aside)
Scout can only directional Assault if Scout is precision tanked, but continues to scan them as before. Assault/Logi can only directional un dampened scouts, but if he sacrifices enough slots he can continue to scan them as before. Assault/Logi can directional undamped heavies if they have maxed cores versus min cores or apply precision enhancers to whatever degree is required (//math here), but generally only positions them. (same deal as Light v. Med for Med v. Heavy)

I know thats a very convoluted way to explain it, and Im sorry.
It really has a certain intuitive logic to it though if you think about it.
It isn't a buff to scouts, nor really one to assaults.
All it is is to make eWAR less binary by only showing directional impulses if precision>>than profile, but continues to show the dot based on previous numbers (precision beats profile=show else no show)
Though, in a sense, all of my side ideas are a buff to assault scanning, as they buff the currently useless active scanner (outside of gal logi spam) to become a tool for all suits to use
