It's called dropship bull fighting. Or, if uplinks are included, it is called sky whale mating.
I've gotten addicted to this little dynamic. Here's how I play:
First get a regular dropship and if possible, you fly to the top of a building and drop several uplinks. Make it real noticable. This part is not always a main part of it, but adds to the excitement.
Next, you wait for an enemy dropship. Preferably this will be Gallente and an ADS.
Fly around it and bump it. Get it real agitated and get it to start trying to ram you back. Then the two sky whales start going at it, jousting with each other.
If an enemy ADS notices your links on top of the building then the real fun begins. You see, these are your sky whale "eggs". You need to protect them so your team (babies) can spawn. The enemy ADS is trying to spread its poisonous semen on your "eggs". So, you and the other dropship begin a deadly mating ritual in the sky. As the ADS hovers around the "eggs" you bump and agitate it. If it runs off oh well. Run a mobile CRU with turrets as well and if folks want to gun you can add support fire and team drop-offs.
However, you hope to try and get the ADS to chase you and shoot at you. Fly away, but then turn real sudden like and try and get the ADS to crash into you.
You see you are not ramming the other guy; he's ramming you! You only bump to get the party started.
This can be funny if it is a Cal ADS. It is even more a challenge if you are also, in a Cal DS. Also, you get other added challenges like installation and tank fire, swarm launchers and FGs.
In the meantime, you have kept the ADS distracted, given your team some main or fallback spawn points, provided an mCRU and collected some WP.
Why have I started doing this? To practice better dropship flying, do something useful yet entertaining for me and because this game has become so silly and ridiculous that I've gone utterly insane. YOU SEE CCP? THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE DOING TO ME!
