DUST Search - Need Help Starter Dropship Pilot

I like to provide aerial support for my squad. I don't know too much about the meta game. I do know how to fly (i've practiced many times in militia ships) but not used to the combat environment. With that said i would like fitting tips or any general tactics. So with some knowledge from other dropship pilots here is what my current tactics. I fit missile turrets for an Anti-infantry role I have a scanner to help find reds on the ground not just for general awareness but for the gunners to have an easier time to find targets. I would activate my shield or armor hardener just prior to engaging, i can soak up initial hits and not have to immediately disengage or even buy time for my gunners to take out swarmers. I find the myron is easiest to use for my approach: 2x Light shield boosters 1x Shield Hardener 1x basic scanner or afterburner depending on my gunner ability to communicate If they don't communicate well or have a hard time finding targets---run scanner to help them If they can communicate i use afterburner to help us get out of area(survival) I have only basic modules now but i want to focus on shield or armor them to provide max benefit. NOTE: I do know about the recent nerf to dropships so i'm well aware of that ( Im a masochist) I also plan to go into assault dropships if i can't find any willing gunners, so any help there is also greatly appreciated. 8-Time New Eden Mass Driver Champion Min Commando Combat Rifle and Mass Driver = FUN and Tears OMG the Tears!! :)

Got about 55 Million ISK 2. I got a nice sized tv (mainly rendering issue in game that would be a factor) 3. 49 Million In infantry planning here on out for dropships I can always fall back into infantry 4. This allows you to tank an entire clip of IAFGs and 4 volleys from a Wyrikomi SL, and still have enough Armor to escape. This, is where the Booster comes in. If you use it while they're reloading, your Shields should be completely up provided that you get to cover, effectively forcing the AVer to start from scratch and revealing his location to start from scratch. 1st Airborne is a channel for Dropship Pilots, and they frequently have gunners who are looking for Pilots. Though I can't tell you how skilled they are or their turret preferences, as they avoid me like the plague. The 1st Matari Commando -HAND

On the other hand if you didn't notice this before you'll likely crash a lot wondering why it keeps moving about even when you aren't pushing the sticks. Fitting really wont matter until you've got some decent fitting optimization, because it's all balanced around being able to drop a proto ship with a militia swarm launcher. I would advise trying blasters as side turrets if you like to get close to the action, they can tear people up nicely if you hold the ship steady enough... Try it on a LAV if you haven't already to see what I mean. Plus your gunners wont blow themselves up as much. The ads is fine as long as you don't come up against swarms, chances are you wont know you're against them until you fall out of the sky though. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I don't think the scanner will help random gunners, I'm semi-sure it only shows up for people in your squad... Either that or I've had some really dopey gunners, lol. Last bit of advice, if you get an annoying blueberry stuck in your ship and want to recall or not have them steal the ship, fly into the redzone at a low altitude, most will get scared and jump out if you don't immediately turn back, lol.

Skill up your armor fitting and reps and just get at1s for now. Do not go into the incubus or python skill it does next to nothing. Trust me i wish i started w this knowledge, instead i went straight to python and the rammers, god the freakin rammers were unbearable, so go incubus just do it. Im a 20+ mil dropshipper, i know this sht like the back of my hand. If you any questions ask away.

They have this nasty habit of obscuring the viewpoint and thus leave most gunners unable to even see what they're shooting at. I'd recommend ditching them if possible, unless you're just going in for transport. Nova Knives are best sidearm.

You can definitely learn a thing or two watching them fly and watch their shield and armor totals as well as their module usage. Those can give you pointers as to fitting a ship. Espeon is a hard pilot to hit with a forge gun. Watch him in a PC against my corp to see what I mean.

Its more bulkier and slower than the Python, but it can tank more damage. If you enjoy an expensive death, use a Python. Though not impossible to use (its like a Min Scout), its very difficault to use to begin with. I started with the Python when I first started to fly and switched to Incubus and found it a lot easier. You dont get wp for flying a grimsones or myron only assists if you have a gunner. Sure it has more survivability but you dont get crap for wp unless you bring uplinks but you can do that in any dropship.
