I've been flying all day today to see what new measures i could adopt to avoid getting shot down or hit by swarms. To be clear i'm an incubus only pilot.
My first few ships were three hits and gone. By the time i started to react it was over. I had a choice really, either stop flying or dump all of my saved up SP into the Incubus.
I went for vehicle core up grades 5, Armor modules 5 and Armor fitting optimzation 3. I refit my ADV dropship with proto modules, all except for the afterburner and the nose gun. For nearly 300K my ship has about 4200 armor, the same with shields.
The survivability of my ship went up. It was tanking alot more damage, and the complex reps did alot to keep me in the air. I would hazard a guess that i wass tanking std and ADV swarms a bit better; more often than not still afterburning out of lock range before the final killing blow.
Getting hit by swarms so far is still completely unavoidable; I' flying around buildings and sockets trying to avoid the missiles never worked. I left the swarmer on objective A on the bridge map flew low and hard behind our socket and my dropship still expploded.
Any time i heard a swarm missile launch it the 3 hits were unavoidable. Wyrikomi Swarms still 3 hit kill my ship, its just much less likley to run into them now. Any 2 guys with swarms still kill my ship, i was dogdging any AV lights like the the plague.
Played a match soley with my swarming commando. Was fighting a really good madrugar tanker, hardener, excellent reps speed boster, ion cannon. He killed my Missile gunlogi, i pulled out the swarms and had a great fight, still took down two of his tanks got plenty of infantry kills. Never was "cripppled" against other infantry.
TL;DR
Proto modules + afterburn are absolutley necessary. Don't even think about flying without them.
Swarm tracking is untouched.
Buildings aren cover for tanks, not dropships.
Proto swarms are 3 hit kills.
Commando Swarmers can fight infantry without any real issue.
Tommorow i build a gellente scout Swarm fit so i can rock AV nades with nanohives, proxy mines i'll see how well that plays out.
