Mercenaries' M+¬l+¬e
Mordu's Legion will be hosting a Continuous Tournament in [Region X]. Mercenaries of New Eden are challenged to prove their worth. How long can you stay in the fight?
The Rules. * WIN - Your Team continue to the next round. * LOSE - Your Team is eliminated from the tournament and must requeue. * Matches are 10 mins long. * Matches start on every 15 mins. (xx:00, xx:15, xx:30, xx:45)
The Rewards. * More ISK for each consecutive win. * [Higher drop rates?]. * [Salvage?]. * Each week the players with the highest number of consecutive wins are awarded [3 of each Officer Weapon].
How it works. * One of your Corps' TLOs accepts a Mercenaries' M+¬l+¬e (MM) queue contract. * A MM Tournament contract spawns for your corp on the coming timer. * Your corps TCOs bring your team into the MM match. * FIGHT!
How does it really work? * One tournament per server. * Server selection is automatic and is weighted by the ping times of the players in the team. * Continuous queue. * Teams face each other based on consecutive wins.
Selling Points + Team deploy. + Always available. + Available to all corps. + Can be done with minimal UI changes. + Set timers means more people will be in the queue at the same time.
Other things Continuous Tournament - As in you can enter it any time and then play until you get beaten or get tired.
Why a Continuous Tournament? - It will grant a lot easier access to team battles than the old corp contracts system would.
Why use the Corp Contracts, why not put it in special contracts? - The reasons for doing it this way is that all that is necessary to implement Team Deploy is already available in the PC system. So, hopefully, running the Continuous Tournament using the PC back end mechanics, in a different region, would require far less dev time than implementing an entirely new game mode. (Hopefully)
Did you like this idea? Help make it a reality by pestering "engaging" with the CPM and the Devs!

I would like to see something like this. It could encourage more activity in all the corps.
On Twitter: @HilmarVeigar #greenlightlegion #dust514 players are waiting.

Jadek Menaheim wrote:With the number of participants it's probably more fair to do fights in a round robin style and compute win averages. Running the tournament using a form of round robin style, that allowed new teams to enter at any time, would have some benefits. For one you wouldn't have to face the same team twice, and there could be some matchmaking mojo going on in the background (perhaps a team / corp MU?).
I like it, but I prefer a single-elimination continuous tournament style. (New teams entering the queue creating a new bottom layer.)
You are right about numbers of participants being a potential problem. If organising 3 squads (16 players) is setting the bar to high then the format should be 12v12 (2 Squads v 2 Squads) instead. This could also allow "random teams" to enter the tournament by way of special contracts. Matchmaking would put 2 squads together and pit them against the rest of the teams.

Easy access to team play is what this suggestion is aimed at. |

Single squad tourneys might be interesting too.

Changed: * Each week the players with the highest number of consecutive wins are awarded [3 of each Officer Weapon]. To: * Each week players are awarded X [X=consecutive wins] Officer Weapons. In order to promote participation.
Edit: Putting the first one back in since they aren't mutually exclusive. |

I like it.
Same as OP but: * Increase squad size to 8. * Require squad of size 8 to enter.
* Put the tournament queue where ever you want to.
Edit: Even better, full squads always queue for the tournament.

CCP [Insert Name Here] if non of these work then how about an optional "long queue" that doesn't start matches until there are enough players with similar MU scores available?
The "long queue" could also dynamically set the player limit for matches... 8v8, 10v10, 12v12... XvX.
And it could use the old weighting of player preference of game mode, just so that good fight comes before which type of fight. |
