I wanted to know what u guys think cause I am an expert between both guns.
basically, I have 2 characters in this game one wielding the submachine and the other one wielding the ion pistol. now for most players would be thinking why 2 characters cause if i exhausted the skill points on one of the character I could switch to the other one while the first character has a active sp.
back to the story, looking the ion pistol i use it for only hip fires only in 5-6 shots there dead but with the submachine its good but kills the ammo fast.
for example, if you see in the match with my Corp buddies I usually destroy them with ion pistol or the submachine
(Immortal bloody) has only 2 levels of the ion pistol, 1 level of reloading.
on this has no levels on the submachine.
lastly if i used both them of the weapons I would be using the submachine first after that finished them with Ion pistol

I really want to answer your question, and help you, but you are going to have to give me more info. 1.) What is your preferred primary weapon? 2.) Are your aiming and strafing skills up to par, in your opinion. Are you confident in your own abilities? 3.) What is, in you opinion, the most important quality in a weapon? 4.) What kind of suit do you use? 5.) Do you understand the concept of damage profiles?
Answer these 5 questions as well as you can, and I can tell you exactly what sidearm to use.

If you are running your clip dry on the SMG, switch to the Breach SMG.
I am running a Breach SMG with a Min Assault (level 3) and I can go 3 engagements without reloading sometimes.
If you are going for Naming rights, I would think the Ion Pistol would be the better bet, because the SMG is a lot more common.

Alright.
First of all, lose the no strafing attitude. You are only severely gimping yourself, especially when you are running sidearms only. Very few of your enemies will play by the same self inflicted nerfs like that, so neither should you. Unless you are doing it to force yourself to get better at something, just don't. 2nd, by opening with an SMG and finishing with a Ion Pistol, you are losing out on approximately 20-30% of your DPS. Possibly even more if you have proficiency skills. Open with the Ion Pistol, strip their shields with it, then eat through their armor with the SMG. Your enemies will die much faster. I would also suggest swapping the Ion Pistol for a Scrambler Pistol, and opening with headshots whenever you can. The synergy between a Laser weapon and a Projectile weapon has never been stronger, and I suggest capitalizing on it.

The longer range of the Scrambler will also allow you to engage at longer distances. This will allow you to strip there shields from a bit further away, and then move in to finish the SMG.
right i get your point bro but at the same time why the scramble pistol for i wont get the add bonus on the amaar im a gellante but thanks

Read my SMG guide. The SMG is designed to be used while strafing. That is one of it's advantages over other weapons.

I just feel like the very strong synergy between the ScP and SMG outweighs the small amount of hipfire accuracy you'll get on the already extremely accurate Ion Pistol.
Even if you don't use the Scrambler , try to start opening up with the Ion Pistol more often. |
