Alright using a militia bolt pistol...
There is no way in HELL this weapon is killing sentinels inside one magazine. it doesn't work.
Now: the MATH!
Bolt pistol, no mods, unskilled. 229 base damage.
I'm maxed on all shield and armor skills, all sentinel armor suits to 5.
Galsent armor 15% bonus Galsent 5:
the galsent took a whopping 195 points of damage. Working as intended.
Calsent shields (no bonus vs. railguns):
The calsent took 207 points of damage. so the damage is applying to shields as intended.
The Amarr sentinel is the anomalous one. It has a 10% bonus vs. railguns on it's shields, but not to armor.
the amarr armor took 249 damage, in line with what we should be expecting.
The amarr shields took 207 damage, identical to the caldari sentinel. The Amarr Railgun resistance is NOT working.
We had my shooter bodyshot the amarr sentinel until death.
The amarr sentinel has 450 shields, 937 armor (all militia mods)
It took seven rounds to bodyshot the amarr sentinel to death. that's two reloads on the militia bolt pistol.
it took three to kill via headshots for a total of 1787 damage. that's an average (because I'm too lazy to calculate each shot) 595.66666666666666666666666666667 damage per headshot as an average.
Conclusion:
1: amarr resistance to railguns is not working, or the bolt pistol is using the wrong damage profile.
2: there is no way in hell the bolt pistol is exceeding expected damage output . If the bolt pistol is overperforming it's likely that it's the most popular choice for the sidearm event and bolt users are preying upon stationary targets. the sheer amount of saturation in a small player base would account for overperformance as people try to get their name on a relatively hilarious weapon.
3: Militia unskilled and no damage mods does 249 armor per shot (bodyshot), and 207 damage to shields (bodyshot)
4: Headshots are overpowered. quit trying to swallow bullets and you die less. |

Thanks for testing this. Looks like my theory about the Bolt Pistol doing more damage than intended against armor was wrong.
The fact that the Amarr Sentinel is not getting its Shield resistance bonus against the Bolt Pistol needs to be looked into.

As usual thank you for taking the time to directly test in game and to post the results.

Breakin has figured out how to encourage the playerbase to participate through good thread titles. ;) Good work, sir.
I would participate, but then I'd have to tell Vile Rat. :)

Was the Amarr Sentinel suit you used to test a Sever BPO suit by any chance?

I'm not buying BPOs for dropsuits I already have, regardless of whether they're all stealth fighter looking like the raven, or rolled in a compost heap like the sever.
but the sever and templar should be identical. both should conform to the amarr A-1 standard sentinel dropsuits. |
