When you mini-charge it (less than halfway up) it releases a normal shot. Does that shot do extra damage? |

No. You either charge it all the way up, or you don't.
Actually, don't charge it unless it's a guaranteed headshot. |

When a player using an ion pistol charges it fully and then fires it gives the same animation as when a scrambler rifle over heats, why doesnt the user take any damage? |

Because the feedback damage is set to 0. (That's if you're asking from a technical view) It's always been part of the design of the weapon, a fully charged shot will seize your weapon. But because using a major feature of the weapon causes overheat it doesn't damage you.

The weapon is already being pushed past what it's supposed to allow the user to do, it's not like the Amarr where they would allow the user to take severe damage if it means defending holy ground.

This sums up how Gallente and Amarr approach their mantras well.

Thank you all for the education. I wasn't trying to make it worse or be a troll. I was trying to understand the difference.
I know it unfathomable that someone isn't being a troll. It just didnt seem logical that heat buildup couldnt cause personal damage. But I see the errors in my reasoning. |

It's already damn near worthless. Why do you want to make it even worse? HAve you used it recently? It works like a charm in CQC. Scouts be buzzing around like wasps and the IP picks them up pretty well with 60 base dmg, 16 clip, good ROF, low kick, decent spread (with Gallente Assault at least). Picks up Cal scouts quite well.
Ion and bolt pistols compliment each other perfectly now for kinda opposite situations. They both do really, really well in their role. But bolt pistol does a bit too well outside that role too. Dat range. |

Dat range. Of course I've used it recently, I love the little bastard. Doesn't change the fact that it's still a bad weapon. It might just be because of the hit detection issues it still suffers from, but almost any other gun performs better in CQC. |

Because a Gallente weapon is an elegant weapon, for a more civilized age.
