One thing I only recently realised- there is no way within the game for new players to see the various effective ranges of the different weapons.
This will likely be leading to players engaging in inappropriate fights, due solely to a lack of information. At 60m, a Rail Rifle will horrendously out-DPS an AR, but new players may not realise this is due to a range disparity.
This could, in turn, be followed by a bias towards use of the longer-ranged guns, when players start using what they perceive as 'overpowered' weaponry.
Is there any way to get this stuff patched into the game without a client fix, as this information seems critical to ensuring proper education of new arrivals. |

Wait there are stats relevant to game play that aren't being shown in-game? This is the first time I have ever heard of such a thing! |

Yes. Beyond a simple number though, they should add a small graph in the weapon stats that show the % of damage dealt at various ranges.
"Laser Rifle Range - 110m" is not even coming close to showing all the needed information. |

We have been telling CCP to include more stats in-game - including weapon ranges - for months and months, if not years now. I don't know what the problem is, but so far they refused to do it or had more important things to fix.
Things would be so much easier if we had those stats in-game, not just for new players but for all of us.

Putting it just before the character selection screen seems like an easy way for them to do it, or on the recent updates menus when you login, it could have its own tab and heading along with other missing information. |

Just thinking it might be possible to then add them to the Displayed Attributes that way.
Speaking of the database... Maybe the Dust team can borrow CCP Mankiller for just a bit?

LOL Not only do we need to see Maximum Optimal and Maximum Effective ranges for weapons.
We also need to see damage profile types.
It's laughable that there is a tooltip on the loading screen that says, "x type of weapon is more effective against x type of defense" etc, but there is NO way a player can know what type of weapon he has.
So here's a small list of information that we need access to in game:
- Maximum Optimal Weapon Range - Maximum Effective Weapon Range - Weapon Damage Profile (inc. after proficiencies, passives, and damage mods applied) - Scan Radius, Precision, and Dampening (inc. after modules, equipment, and passives applied)
Set your goals high, and shoot for the moon; even if you miss you'll land amongst the stars.

Well, just as a start, can we get a Stickied post on the General forum (or the Rookie Training Grounds forum) listing the Range of each weapon, and have that thread be updated every time there is a change? We need a definitive source for weapon range.
It is a lot of work to go back through all the Hot Fix spread sheets to look for the most up to date range information.
Hand/Eye coordination cannot be taught. For everything else there is the Learning Coalition.
