Ion pistols aren't that great against GalScouts, though. Real scout killers are the IP and BrScP.
IPs generally only shine against bigger targets. Hell, I dropped about 200 commandos/sentinels with my MLT variants just yesterday. |

For this to be good advice scouts would need a slower walk/sprint speed and no cloaking device.

I'm talking about CQB fighting only. Generally speaking an Assault or heavy will outmatch scouts at distance because at that point speed is A LOT less important and HP is EVERYTHING. So you don't need to,worry about scouts at long distance more than any other player.
In CQC though scouts rule, mostly because of their ability to use SMG's, Knives and Shotguns to down bigger slower enemies with a blitzkrieg of an attack. In short if you see a scout within eye staring distance it is usually too late.
Cue the Ion Pistol, which you can use to kill scouts in usually one shot. If you're in a heavy or Assault they will usually have to shoot you twice with a shotgun to kill you, you only need one shot; they may shoot first but you will shoot last.

This public service announcement has been brought to you by by the Ostrakon Agency. scouts are op. they are basically immune to tacnet while sharing their passive scans, far too versatile.. more so then medium suits which are supposed to be the "versatile" ones , they are also fast and can strafe to just laugh at your attempts to shoot them and worst offender is cal scout who has godlike shield reps and can tank like a beast with its bugged hitbox

I myself just use whatever weapon I have on me at the time as an anti-scout weapon.
I've never found the need to use a specific weapon to take out a pesky scout. Shoot them, and they die, same as everybody else...

On HP modules:
HP modules, being flat values, add some ridiculous amount of HP to scouts, like an additional 50%... this translates into a 50% longer TTK for scouts. The same module adds something like 15% to the TTK of a sentinel.
On Scan attributes: There is a pretty flat progression of scan attributes between heavies to mediums and then you get the scout. Scan profile goes from 50 for medium suits down to 35 for scouts.... this is a 30% drop in scan profile (more than any module or bonus in the game) which just eliminates the other suits from even attempting to play the EWAR game.
The same goes for scan range, a scout has DOUBLE the scan range of all suits but the logistics, while the very best module in game will only increase it by 45%, another type of EWAR that other suits cannot really take part in.
This is part of the problem, intel/covert ops. Scouts are the undisputed kings in ALL things intel/covert ops, actually they are really the only players in it. This would be maybe ok (not really) if they couldn't so easily participate in tanking and mild logistics work along with assaulting, but as it is this one suit can do all of these things.
Scouts are the very best at intel, covert ops, cloaking(actually the only ones), long range scouting, speed, distance, and terrain mobility while still being competent (while not the best) at tanking, assaulting, AV, and light logistics work (scouts have the same number of equipment slots as the base amarr logi.)
Honestly an in-depth look at the base stats, the module bonuses, and the suit bonuses is in order here.

You can't sneak up on a scout if they know what they are doing.

Here is my biggest problem, they can take just as much abuse as any medium suit can, and they can deal the same amount of damage as any medium suit can.
I know what you are thinking:
Hey wait a second, I cannot get my scout to have as many HP as my assault/logi!
Well, You definitely do get a hit box that is between 20-30% smaller. That means you eHP is 20-30% higher versus the same eHP on a medium frame, because 20-30% of the bullets that would normally hit you will not hit you. This also means that you have effectively similar HP totals when tanked.

I mean take routes that benefit you as well as moving cover to cover. Staying in a group is also good if you aren't prepared for an uneven fight.
I don't know maybe it's because I tend to run my Assault suits like scouts but I rarely get caught off guard even by cloaking scouts. Cloaks just make them look like walking gel figurines.
