Will the Legion comms just be a copy / paste of eve?
I am just hoping we get a fully working comm system which includes:
Multiple channels with different options like one way channels where a FC can speak to squad leads without the squad leads having to close comms with their troops.
Multiple channel hot keys which could also be used by a FC or SL to command multiple groups or to relay vital information.
Broadcast messages that can be replayed at any time by people in the battle.
I dont think anyone coming over to legion will want to resort to teamspeak like all of eve does. A fully functioning communication system is the absolute foundation of a team based FPS. |

People will use Teamspeak and Mumble regardless of how well made the comms are in Legion. It's for security reasons because alliances are paranoid about spies listening in.

So just because some groups do not use it everyone else should be left with crap? Personally I have no desire to install and run other software plus pay for a server to casually enjoy a game that I am already spending money on.
Making channels able to be moderated and function properly is already there all we need is a few features and some bugs fixed. |

If you don't want to use TS or Mumble, fine. No one is putting a gun to your head. But just remember that when the time comes that you want to assemble a powerful alliance in Legion, or join an already-existing power bloc in Legion, or if you want to be involved in an effort to coordinate a massive attack on someone, expect to be pressured into using TS or Mumble.
Anyways, the comms in Eve Online are just fine and CCP can simply just copy it over to Legion if they can. The comms in Eve are more tailored toward small gangs and casual chat if that's what you're looking for.

people will use third party comms. as with eve and dust there will likely be an ingame comms but like eve comms no one will use it so if you choose to use it its unlikely you will get to speak to many other people.
third party comms is just safer and and easier to use than ingame comms. its the most popular way to communicate in any pc game. why would it be any different to legion

Personally I don't really think it much matters what voice integration Legion will have, corps will likely pay for a teamspeak/mumble/ventrillo voip server or use their alliance or coalition comms. Eve voice (imo) has always had clarity issues and likely will not be popular when Legion releases. BTW voice from these programs integrates nicely into twitch.tv streams, and any other respectable video capture program you can find for the PC. Heck if you want to stream or youtube your gameplay it will be a heck of a lot easier than using the in game voice client, which last time I checked was hit or miss for integration in the video capture.
How long til this hits PC?

Hey a good comms system makes it easier for small corps who may be to cheap to get a TS server. But still with all the choices available voice comms on pc is a tertiary concern I say forget about it to start and add it in later so you can do it right.

In Arma 2 and three you can talk directly to someone that isn't in any group that you're in. Something like that would be great so we could communicate to others in the battlefield that aren't in your squad.
Edit: In Arma 2 and 3 it's just called direct communication
