yeah, I think CCP agrees with you.
There's actually very little lore in Dust 514 aside from the intro cutscene and the video explanations on each of the races. Also, I just finished reading "Templar One" a little while ago.
While there were some very cool moments, I feel like the stories in the book are contradicted by what CCP has said or is mentioned in the Eve Wiki. So the books may or may not be cannon. (o_O )
Lore consistency is not a thing in Dust 514.
*btw, if anyone sends me an ingame message I'll explain what Dust 514 means and what Legion represents. I think I've narrowed it down.

Most have disfigured apperances for they are vastly unevolved compared to the othe 3 races. They use highly overpowered weaponry to compensate for their rather minute reproductive organs, and they enalaved the minmatar to do their manual labor (sounds familiar) because they are lazy scum. |

That's a **** poor understand of what the Amarr Empire is and what kind of Faith it is.
But I've tried before to resolve player ignorance on the matter, and at this point it doesn't matter as players don't want to learn what each group actually represents, how it functions, etc.
Suffice to say that the Amarr represent what I would consider the classical traits that tend towards the concept of collective unification.
...and Slavery....well lets not even get me started on that subject since it's a big can of worms. One people reaching out to another and uplifting them from disharmony through the most expedient means with the intent to have them one day become Imperial citizens.......and that was tossed to the side and spat on.
