I've imagined a system i found cool.
I've divided weapons in 5 categories instead of 3 and each category have a weight represented as hidden sub slot.
1) Pistols - 1 slot (S,L,H slot)
2) SMGs - 2 slots (S,L,H slot)
3) Rifles - 3 slots (L,H slot)
4) (Let's call this heavy rifles, i don't have a better name) - 4 slots (L,H slot) (weapons like PLC and swarm launcher)
5) Heavy weapons - 5 slots (H slot)
Now each role, within it's intended weapon slot (It can be H, S or L), have a different capacity for each slot.
Scout have a capacity of 4, it means they can fit 1 rifle + 1 pistol (1+3) or 2 smgs (2+2) or 2 pistols (1+1) or 1 heavy rifle
Logi have a capacity of 4 but only one weapon slot (basically nothing change)
Assaults have a capacity of 5 (it doesn't mean they can fit a heavy weapon, they still have only L and S slots)
Sentinels have a capacity of 7 (H weapon + smg)
Commando have a capacity of 8 (2 heavy rifles)
I know it's not happening, but the concept is cool and also give an edge to commando on assaults, this also blends with another feature we will never see, weapon customization.

Bump.
I actually like this idea... It sounds like it would be tedious but... It can lead to some interesting builds... A 3 pistol 1 knife build on scouts for example. Or a 2 pistol assault w/ prefered rifle. I like it to be honest, along with CPU, PG, and weapon slots, fitting techniques come into play. |

You still have 2 slots, you can't fit 3 pistols.
