So we all know CRU is where you spawn in, and Supply Depot is where you resupply and switch suits, but one thing has always bugged me.
The CRU doesnt spawn you in without gear, you have a dropsuit with all your equipment, so does the CRU act as a supply depot in some regard? Allowing the deployment of a clone and the deployment of equipment? Should it then make sense for it to act as a supply depot as well, offering resupply/suit changes to players on the ground? |

the cru is a teleportation node that links to the mcc, all your gear is at the mcc, while your waiting to spawn in your clone is putting on his gear thus the timer and then you teleport to cru/uplink. supply depots work the same except your gear is teleported to the depot and your clone equips it

So what stops the CRU from teleporting gear if all the CRU and SD are are just glorified teleport beacons? |

Lore-wise, I believe Supply Depots contain recharging supplies of nanites (hence occasions where when too many people resupply from it at once, it stops for a time), that restructure into the gear and ammunition you need based on Neocom interaction.
You raise an interesting point with the CRUs though. Where does the gear come from? I think it makes more sense that you spawn in the MCC and teleport yourself uplink-style to the CRU, in which case they should be called Armoured Uplink Outlets or something of that kind.
Idea to consider: what if people had to spawn in MCC, then from there select a spawn point of available uplinks, including 'CRUs'?

#logic_win So what stops the CRU from teleporting gear if all the CRU and SD are are just glorified teleport beacons? crus don't have an interface to interact with to select the gear to be teleported , supply depots do have an interface but don't generate enough power to teleport a clone & the gear.

in a world where complicated electronics and machines are interfaced through direct brain link either phisically or through local wifi.
CRU is a flawed battlefield support system if its only able to teleport in gear the one time. |

it does have the ability to link telepathicly however if enemy acquired that signal they would know what you using thus a manual interface is required.

Enemy can link to it already, its called hacking, you should have not entered this battle because you are unarmed and unarmored when it comes to wints. |

We could keep going back and forth about this, but really you will lose in the long run of petty squabbling because of a few fundamentally objective facts.
#1, the CRU is a flawed design to begin with, it teleports/creates clones and equipment, so it should allow you to switch/restock equipment as well
#2, you are dumb, if players/characters could not interact with the CRU, they would not be able to hack it. Just go back to being your own kind of special
#3, this is new eden, a world where space ships travel faster than light, ships and body armor suits can generate shielding which absorbs all kinds of weapon fire, players who die have their conciousness transfered instantly to a new clone body.
#4, the only real reason why it doesnt do both is for gameplay balance, be honest about it, the world of new eden breaks so many rules, any fake reasons why you think a CRU cant generate equipment like a supply depote make you sound like a deet-dee-deet. |

so your gonna to insult me as a person not just as a player just because i poked a hole in your "hole poking" thats very childish and diminishes your argument.
1.) cru's do not create* equipment it reatomizes them from a previous location (aka teleportation).
2.) hacking is bypassing enemy security protocol and reprogramming it to sync with your corresponding mcc, does not mean you can interact with it to select fits or gear to be teleported to your location.
3.)yes this is true but it doesn't prevent enemy's from intercepting these brain transmissions.
4.)yes it is for balance, however you state that it is a logic failure without having any lore to base that claim off and for that matter i don't believe there is any lore regarding crus and supply depots, so the player is left to make his own assumptions regarding that matter.
You're just a butthurt little kid whom's assumptions was defeated by anothers.Grow up and come back to the forums when you have a constructive topic presented with reasoning.

One contains nanites and biomass. Everything has to happens inside the CRU.
One contains nanites and a way for the nanites to leave the Depot.

Allowing the deployment of a clone and the deployment of equipment? Should it then make sense for it to act as a supply depot as well, offering resupply/suit changes to players on the ground? The CRU is a giant, fixed, high powered Uplink. It generates a temporary wormhole.
Basically an automated process dresses and equips your clone on the MCC or Warbarge and then drops you/it through a wormhole and you pop out at a CRU or Drop Uplink.
For Legion I have been arguing that a lot of interesting game mechanics could result if Drop Uplinks were short range (can reach a MCC near the surface but not a Warbarge in orbit) and the CRU acted as a router on the ground to bring your clone down from a Warbarge in Space and then redirect it to Drop Uplinks on the ground. This way when raiding a District without the use of an MCC, you would have to either control a CRU on the ground, or be forced to Sky Spawn.

because there is no downside to jumping from a ship in orbit to enter a hot dropzone , right? |

I take exception to this GÇ£#logic_winGÇ¥ statement. Knowledge of lore does not equate to Logic.
If you understand Lore and you come to a logical conclusion, that is logic. But if you donGÇÖt know the Lore, no amount of logic is going to get you the answer because you donGÇÖt know the roles to which such logic would be based.

Anyone who has been defending the Point in Ashland Domination when the enemy team has uplinks on the pipes or the tower will know the down side to Sky Spawn.
-Just listen for the Inertial Dampeners to activate, and then kill them before they get their bearings.
For real Sky Spawn: -Add to this 15 seconds of freefall, on top of the 15 second Spawn time. -Being able to see mercs falling from the sky which to some extend gives away their position.
I would say that would be enough to make it worth holding a CRU so that your Drop Uplinks will work.

You're right about that.
As a teleportation node, the CRU is different than the SD. I do think it would be cool if the teleportation could work in reverse, allow players to go back up, switch suits, and redeploy. |

That is true, but people do already use the SD to escape death, so its not something that would be a new 'annoyance' to the game. |
