There are two classes of equipment in Dust, use it or die, or use it and die. I know it is very difficult to distinguish but your buddy BL4CKST4R will guide you
Use it or die: This is the good stuff, the equipment everybody wants and everybody has, if your not using these you are wasting your equipment slots.
Nanohives (the solo man's eq, don't leave home without it) Drop uplinks (the letsdominatethefieldwithsheervolumeandlag equipment, for those sticky situations) Remote explosives (boom [not really OP or anything but they get more usage than the other 4])
Use it and die: This is the crappy stuff, the equipment that is wasting those precious EQ slots.
Active Scanners (scan, target acquired, initiate movement, data lost ... cooldown... see scout, scan, nothing ... cooldown ...) Nanite Injectors (find dead body, inject, dead from a sniper +100 for a sniper) Repair tools* (parasitic leeching device for armor heavies, screw everybody else) Proximity mines (beep beep beep boom, it tickles)
Ok so I know I did over exagerate, the point is the top 4 equipment dominate the field, the bottom three are rarely seen because of their limited usage. The exception being a repair tool which is only useful if you glue yourself on a Armor based heavy.
Along with the obvious equipment spam that has been ravaging Dust for what seems like forever it would be nice to have a third equipment pass.
My suggestions are:
Deployables: (Nanohives, Drop uplinks)
>A maximum limit of uplinks and hives per person. The create a ton of lag and ruin gameplay, seriously there are more uplinks in the average battle than there are plants in the map... >A maxium height limit for uplinks. (100-150M) removing the height limit for uplinks allows for mCRU to be the high altitude mobile deployment units.
RE class:
>Normalization of RE class explosives, proximity mines are NOT competitive at all unless you lay down a monster minefield which is just +5 (100) for a flux.
Active scanners:
>Reduction of cooldown, or increase in scan duration; specially the Duvolle focused scanner which is the only counter to scouts and it is bad, just bad. >Slight reduction in precision, unless your a Gal logi scanning a scout is impossible for normal infantry.
Repair tools:
>Shields and armor repair. Add in half of armor HP to shields, and reduce armor HP slightly. So they will still favor repping armor but will have a nice shield component. (the reduction is so that they don't get a massive repair buff which is not needed)
