Ok, I exagerated. This is not the end but in the video at about 2:25 I'll show you the edge of the map. How did I do it? Every now and then there is a glitch in which you either spawn or die in such a way that you can run around but, you can't kill, get killed or hack. It doesn't happens often but, it does happen like once every 2 month. This time around it happened early and I recognized what was going on so i headed for the red zone. I went pass the hills you see behind the red zone. it was very far and this video only shows way over the halfway point. Yes, the map is huge. I then saw those power towers (for lack of a better word) and i decided to go for it. Unfortunately or as far as I know you can't reach the tower or at least not on foot. There is an edge to the map. Unfortunately I got too close to the edge and fell off but, I didn't die either. You just fall into what looks like water maybe 8 to 10 feet deep (from the characters perspective) and you can't move around. Too bad it wasn't one of those maps where you can see other maps from a distance. I wonder if you can join someone else battle? That would be cool to be the 33rd player.

You should try calling an LAV in the middle of a firefight or on a sniper the next time you have that glitch.

I've been beyond the redline, you can not get in LAV's.
No vehicle but your heart can take you beyond the redline.

I have yet to suffer this glitch... unfortunately. Me and Lady Redline would have had quite a date.

Cool and thanks for sharing. Makes you wonder what the ultimate plan for this game was. The map is way too big for the type of battles we have now. |

Judging by your character's date of birth, assuming this is your oldest character, you were probably not around long enough to know what was the original intent.
I've been around since early closed beta and I know that these maps were originally designed to be massive to one day allow Dust to handle as many as 128 players. Kind of like a miniaturized version of MAG. Once CCP got most of the coding right and the balance achieved, the redline would have been extended further back to allow for a gradual increase of the team sizes until the 128 count was achieved. At least that was original plan. But complications arose. Uprising was loaded with bugs, glitches, epic lag, total imbalance in regards to teams, weapons, suits, and vehicles. This greatly delayed development to the point where Dust was no longer going to have that dream of 128 players in one match.
Today, we are now relegated to 32 players per match.

PS: The map you see now is actually a fraction of its original size. Back then, you were able to zoom out far enough to see a massive map in which the available burn zone we fight in took up only 1/16th the size of the total map.

We were so full of hope and livelihood. Back when we thought this thing would actually get where it was going. Instead, we never even got to see the return of Skirmish 1.0.
