In dust there is a plethora of skills providing no bonus whatsoever (22 skills for infantry alone) some requiring a ton of sp just to lead you to another sp sink.
I believe every skill point spent should be an investment even if you don't get the skill it is unlocking. For example dropsuit command and the various basic dropsuit skills.
Here are my suggestions:
Dropsuit command:
1% CPU/1% PG per level -or- 1% Shields/1% armor per level
Skipping basic dropsuit for now...
Dropsuit upgrades:
1% CPU/1% PG per level -or- 1% Shields/1% armor per level
Active Scanner operation:
3% cool down reduction per level
Cloak field operation:
1% fitting reduction per level (anything else would be OP)
Drop uplink deployment:
2% spawn time reduction per level
Nanocircuitry:
2% efficacy per level
Repair tool operation:
3% to range or nanites repaired
Weaponry:
1% Fitting reduction to all weapons per level
Demolitions:
1% fitting reduction per level -or- 1% efficacy per level
Grenadier: (would lime a split of this skill to flux and grenades)
1% fitting reduction per level -or- 1% blast radius per level
Leaving vehicles out sorry :/

I just wanna throw this out there, burn it if you want.
Remove the Cloaks built in dampening and add 2% per level. Would promote skilling higher without making the proto the only useful for dampening.
And, Nanocircuitry still has the -5% CPU usage per level, please don't take that away.
If you find an issue and I stumble upon your thread, I will do my darnedest to get the issue known.

That is actually interesting since most scouts only use an adv cloak.
As for nanocircuitry I forgot about it I was just going down the list.

Perfectly understandable as it only says it on the Skill book which no one sees... CCP, come on, put it on the skill itself.

The grind for useful skills is long and hard enough without having to waste sp for skills that don't passively improve your performance.

Not only that but there are plenty of skills that nobody even bothers to max out because they are just a means to an end, for example my dropsuit command is level 3 and unless I am max at 164M SP there is no reason for that skill to be 5.

While I totally agree that every level of every skill should offer an immediate benefit...
inb4"ERMERGERDSPSINKZ??!!??"
Really though it's been suggest before and people tend to apply gratuitous amounts of fecal matter to the thread.
The one thing I might stay away from if possible is fitting bonuses, as many people have spend excessive amounts of SP on ____ Optimization which could be potentially uneeded with the addition of fitting bonuses to lower skills, thus making that SP 'wasted'. That's gonna be a major point of contention for a lot of people, and it is understandable.
Overall though the concept is strongly supported by myself, as I have in many other similar threads. Probably need some tweaks to your actual bonuses/values, but its good to see people still thinking about this sort of thing.

I get your point on the fitting reductions so I will go through it again and change some of them, what are your suggestions?

Just by looking at skills EVE-side, I can understand why CCP originally gave skills with no bonuses. Seriously, there are skills called "Rocket Science" in Eve that do absolutely nothing for you. But this being an FPS that rewards your hard thought and "lazor-focused" changes, I'd expect these skills to have SOME kind of meaning. Your list is pretty good so far though, I'll come back if I think of something better. |

This is something I have been pushing for on and off since closed beta almost 2 years ago. For a while CCP even did something about it and eliminated empty skills. What happened of all of those bonuses?

When they started nerfing a lot of skills periodically lost their bonuses for example weaponry gave I think 1% or 2% damage per level.
