RE's are powerful, but the really only other variant is a proxy. Why not have a new variant that doesn't blow up in a small area, but acts more like a flux granade with bigger range, and more effects.
The EMP remote explose
It is thrown and exploded like a regular RE.
It completely takes out shields, or just a high enough shield damage to where only shield buffed tanks can survive.
It destroys all equipment in the blast area.
It resets equipments cool down timer and stops any equipment running for a short time (scanners and cloaks for cool down and rep tools for the running).
It's effective range is higher, if not double of what the flux grenade puts out.
It's effect goes through walls, although it's range further is less then what it would be if it had open space to pass through.
The idea is to, instead of just a mass of RE's through a window, use just one EMP RE to neutralize a building of everything except troops with their armor. Timing would be crucial, but if you team goes in right after it goes off, the other team has lost a large part of their advantage. They can still fight, but they are just weaker and with no equipment support.
The benefit to using these is that you'll get more equipment destroyed points then a regular RE would, and you also get a kill assist for anyone your team takes out.
It would add an interesting dynamic to the game as far for quarters combat, and it will make a fortified building not seem as impenetrable.

This falls under the Flux MD idea.
Another thing I would love to have but will probably never get to see.
A like is all I can give.
If you find an issue and I stumble upon your thread, I will do my darnedest to get the issue known.
