Assault Suits really need some loving. In the 10 matches I've played today I've seen maybe two Assaults, a dozen scouts and a ton of heavies. Why play Assault suits when our 'skill bonuses' are things we can put perks into?
Heavies can either get a damage buff or damage reduction which no one will ever complain about! Scouts get a profile dampening, scan precision, a stamina buff or hack speed. Assaults get reload speed for rail rifles, bullet dispersion for the assault rifle, clip size for the combat rifle or heat buildup for laser weapons. Do note that they are all pretty much easy to perk into. And require you to use that factions specific weapons you can say the same for Commando but at least you can't perk into a passive damage buff.
Only people you see in medium armor in general are logistics who stalk heavies, and new players using militia gear! No one wants to use Assault Armor not because of the CPU/PG but because we are obsolete!
Scouts can get as much health as an advanced assault suit, and run across the field in record time, heavies can pretty much have the bonus that Assaults get without putting points into Medium armor and can tweak for resistances or damage buffs. If CCP wants more diversity on the battle they should give Assault a worthwhile bonus! |

I think they are find and very helpful since we have very well rounded suits. Some precision would be a nice add since we are assault.

lol well I think your under looking the weapons they go with a combat rifle is like shooting a laser so extra acc would not help it. acc is increased on ga, but the ga weapons need it. Heat build reduction is amazing if you use laser weapons and reload speed for a sniper rifle, swarm, and rail gun is pretty epic. The precision and dampening could use some love though as it is hard to assault anyone when everyone can see you through walls and you cant see anyone.

Honestly, if EWar was less divided, Assaults would be fine: Scouts do EWar and no one else does. If we made Scouts the best at EWar, but made the margin by which they are much smaller, then Assaults would have their advantages much more tangibly felt - greater hit points and weapon handling.
Currently, the Assault benefits are pretty slim because the Scout advantage is built-in too much, such that Scouts are capable of having a definable EWar edge yet narrowing any EHP gap with their module fitting space and having great access to the cloak.
Module bonuses for Scouts, or reducing their base stats to make them closer to (but still better than) Assaults would do wonders for Assaults.

Scouts should have base ewar stats reduced to base assault level but in turn they get a bonus to eWar modules. I think that should prevent scouts having all the eWar advantages even when they tank their scout for an assault role. They would have to chose the role they want.
I think the best anti-eWar suits should either of the medium suits
A logi could either function as a close range radar for groups and be the first to know when a scout tries to infiltrate a group. The logi would perhaps be best with this role because it carries alot of equipment and the low health and firepower means it may not be in the best position to respond but can direct friendlies to the threat i,e support role. This would provide a hunter-killer role between itself as the hunter and the killers the surrounding heavies or assaults. Although im unsure if this would bring about the return of a slayer-logi.
Assault could also have this function to because it will be on the front more often then not, so a high precision albeit short range could help hunt and kill but not so much it can see everything(only the immediate area it's in). Perhaps a very high precision to detect close signatures but range is only 10-15m.
Bring a meta game where scouts can hide but after a certain distance to slayer suits they would have to hit the target before it can react or run away if exposed before its attack.
Scouts could still hide from active scans and solo heavies or otherwise isolated targets but would have to pick its moments when attempting to assassinate, underscoring its fast hit the target and get out before retaliation.

Improved racial bonuses for assaults are in the works and probably coming in Echo or Foxtrot, but they're not bad as they are. Assaults are kinda what you see is what you get: good EHP and mobility. The bonuses aren't as big a deal for them as for scouts or logis.
I think the racial bonuses are great actually. Amarr's obviously owns, but the Gallente one seems pretty useful to me as well. Maybe it could be better but I'm bout to spec into Gal assault and really looking forward to some reduced hipfire dispertion. The Min one allows them to tear into folks longer with the ACR. Pretty beast. The Caldari one seems kinda meh but some swear by it.
The class wide fitting bonus seems a little more dispensable than the racial bonuses, but I'm not sure what it could be changed to. |

With me being pretty much the only person tossing hives, and my cal assault V RR reload V. I can chew through my stock of ammo in no time flat.
My options are;
1 hope a blue drops a hive (ever wonder why I ran at you punching madly?)
2 fit a craphive (and reload once before running at a redberry punching madly)
3 sacrifice my assault fits strength to fit a good hive (die before needing hive)
Having said that, I still kinda love my reload bonus
Feels sexy reloading without needing cover.

Find a logi,keep them alive and presto there's your ammo.
Find a Cal logi to get the most from hives.
But be prepared to stop frequently,logistics speed and stamina are terrible.
Was banned for fighting for logistics survival on 7/25/2014 02:11. Logistics will never be respected.

Chief shotty they don't even need the bonus to ewar mods they get a bonus from cloak field and the suit if they choose it. You are right about there scan profile needs to be 50 and they can work from there since they have the tools. I mean it is crazy to me that the best active scanner can't detect them with only 2 dampeners fit.

I believe assaults need bonuses to the efficacy of their racial tanks. Amarr would get bonuses to armor plates (perhaps weight as amount would put it past sentinels), Caldari would get bonuses to reduction of recharge delay for shield extenders. Gallente would get bonuses to armor repair amount from repairers and and reactive plates and Minmatar would get bonuses to shield rechargers. All this on top of their current bonuses as this would fall in line with how sentinels and scouts are modified. The only thing is that Commandos and Logistics suits would also need secondary racial bonuses bonuses as well to balance them out.
