What if the red chevron above enemy merc's heads was eliminated?
Leave the blue chevron for teammates but a clone with no chevron is the enemy.
I am not suggesting changing eWar or how the TacNet looks or operates. Players on the radar still show up and look as they always have, just no red chevron over the head on the battlefield.
This would eliminate chevrons showing up through walls. Non scouts might like this.
Many matches employ mood lighting (darker maps) and this proposal would facilitate interesting tactical opportunities to be taken advantage of. It also makes it more difficult to track someone with your cross hairs on darker maps, thereby increasing TTK.
As it is, I can see enemy combatants from great distances simply because the red chevron gives away their position. With no chevron I might not notice them, especially if they were not moving.
On dark maps, sometimes all I can see in very dark areas is the chevron so that's what I shoot at. How much more dynamic would game play be if that was removed?
Lack of a blue chevron identifies you as the enemy and allows for the use of stealth and shadows, cover etc creating a more realistic and tactical experience for all suit types.
This is no good for this type of game. Removal of sigs would not make the game more tactical in the way real combat has to be tactical. This is an arena rumble style game and things like cloaks make it more so. I'm too old to try and pick people out on a 2D screen with no depth of field. Any time I stand still it is the same as if I keep moving and hopping and twirling and do -si-doing.
Not only should the sigs not be removed, but scanning should be strengthened. Otherwise, turn this game into a real tactical game and stop the ability to jump, turn and strafe while firing like some kind of superhero. Bring all that down to realistic levels and force people to have to stop, assess, hide and fire around corners with some kind of actual battle line and A to B directional progression and no surprise backstabs from some half-assed ninja then you can get rid of the scan mechanic.
This is a game. I don't come home, sit down with a beer only to have to relive my military days on a 2D screen with zero peripheral vision and a stupid controller that is supposed to be a gun (lol, gun game. Get a real gun then we'll talk about gun game).
