It's ridicules how it's working on battlefield and what benefits it gives to players.
Option that that this structure gives should be narrow to supplying or changing suit, maybe we should have two structures instead of one. Today player are gods on supply depot, jacks of all trades - they can be snipers, second latter rail gun assaults, and if you try to kill them they switching to heavy hmg, and if as heavy they get to much damage they can switch heavy suit and have full hp momentarily.
- It is **** up that players are immortal right after they switch their suit. - It is **** up that players instantly resupply their ammunition by changing suit. - It is **** up that switched suit do not 'remind' % damage of previous one. - ..and the mostly **** up part is that modules like cloaking or active scanner can be instantly re-use after switching suit, with for examples makes pro G logi with best Active Scanner completely losing concept of scanner cool-downs and allow player to refresh scanning data each second.
Me idea is to separate functionality of current Supply Depot to two different structures: Ammo Depot and Dropsuit Depot - first of all it would break that 'idea' that in order to win all you have to do is protect one structure(ambush in this case).
Ammo Depot would: Resupply your current dropsuit ammunition, grenades, equipment(all) and repair your dropsuit or vehicles armor at some rate and proximity from structures(passively, without need to open some window or plug in). Because of narrow functions it serves we could see more of them in center of map, accessible for vehicles.
Dropsuit Depot would: Allow players to switch their dropsuit, but without resupplying it with: armor, shield, ammunition, grenades, equipment(that can be drop like Nanohive), it would also not reset cloak and active scanner cool-down; no matter of item tier - if you have Militia Combat Rifle and you switching to Standard Combat Rifle your ammunition percentage remain the same. Dropsuit Depot remember ammunition status of your all suit so if you switch from CR to RR, and then back to CR you not gone trick system. If Scout with 0% shield and 10% armor switch suit to have he will have same % on that new suit. Dropsuit Depot need to have cool-down on reuse it again, player need to be inform about timer.

This might be considered for legion. Unfortunately it is beyond the scope of DUST at the moment. This may change.
My suggestion is that when a supply depot becomes a problem, the response should be "destroy the depot."
Also when the advantage is available for everyone equally it's not unbalanced even if it is a bad mechanic.
To be clear, none of your ideas are particularly bad, but they might get more attention if you reformat your post to be less ragey/ranty.
I agree with most of what you have to say, but not all. |

Just because from time to time I tell that something is **** up it doesn't mean that I'm raging about it.
Supply Depot can not be simply destroyed in all situation, especially when it is placed underground and is occupy by half enemy team.
Advantage that you are talking about is 'available for everyone' when Supply Depot is neutral. In moment when it is hack it work in favor of one team, players that decide to attack it can not switch suit, became immortal, drop plenty of nanohives, and do stuff that I mention in my post, so it is good argument but not in this case.
Breakin Stuff wrote:For example if I swap from a RR calassault to a forge calsent giving me the same % ammo makes no sense. Yes, it has no sens, because it is not my words. What I mean in my idea is that If you switch from Standard RailRifle with 10% of ammunition to any dropsuit with ForgGun you should get 100% of ForgeGun ammunition, but if you switch back to Standard RailRifle you will get 10% ammunition that you left in your suit, and if you switch to suit with same weapon class(RR - STR, MLT, PRO) you get same amount of ammunition - 10%.
There should be no invulnerability mechanic - it is BF mechanic, and it doesn't give anything good when it is connected to Supply Depot. When guy in MLT medium suit is invulnerable it's not big thing, but when PRO sentinel or tanked assault it is very problematic, because you need exactly whole damage that you can generate to kill those guys without needs to reload your weapons.
Breakin Stuff wrote:You are absolutely correct about using the depots as an instant module cooldown. But. You have to swap to a suit with a different module to bypass cooldown then swap back. If you swap from a duvolle scanner to duvolle scanner the cooldown stays. You have to jump to a different scanner/pieces of equipment to reset the cooldown. It is exploit, discussing about this on forum is not good thing, just ticked it.
