Myofib skill did used to do this, buff the melee strike 5-10%/level. It was changed to a module efficiency wih Uprising, I believe.

I think the most significant issue with Melee is the agonizingly inconsistent hit detection.
Few things in this game are more frustrating than punching an enemy three times with them taking no damage and then they just turn around and shred you.
Then there's other times where I blindly swing my fist at an enemy who's no longer on screen and I get the kill.
However, the first scenario happens much more frequently than the second one.
I often run a Minnie Scout that does 495 Melee damage. That's quite a bit a damage already. Sure more damage would be nice, but it might be overkill.
I think the best way to improve Melee at the moment is to improve the hit detection(if at all possible) or give it a slight range increase to make up for the crappy hit detection, and then maybe consider a damage buff it it's still too lacklustre.
Then again, most people unfortunately don't care about Melee being a viable combat option.
Damn philistines having no appreciation for the art of hand-to-hand combat.

I agree, melee detection is wonky as hell. But I'm admittedly biased, I think hand to hand in an FPS is usually total trash, for worthwhile hand cqc I prefer a third-person view for accurate ranging and movement timing. DUST514 is definitely not MGO.
