to start, i don't really play DUST too much at the moment, especially since the release of destiny on top of the strenuous activity i have the misfortune of calling life, but back when i did play pretty seriously, i could never figure out:
why the cal scout got nerfed, but the bonus was given to the 2 ARMOR tanking suits.
the one thing that even somewhat balanced the cl scout was the fact that they have to give up a lot of shield in order to get near unbeatable precision. but when an armor tanking scout, (i.e the gal scout) gets the bonus, on top of a profile bonus, doesn't that spell OP as f.uck to i dunno,
ANYONE WHO ISN'T PHUCKING BLIND?
but i mean come on, this is the forums. if i don't spell out why it's OP (though it should be pretty obvious) i'll get flamed by all the forum tryhards to busy stroking their e-peens to see the underlying problem.
let's take the amarr scout. if i'm not mistaken, it's bonus is 3% to precision and something else that's irrelevant to this topic.
for the sake of the argument, we'll say said amarr scout decides to put on 2 complex precision. this will make it so that the ony way to dodge his scans is to run at least 2 profile damps on a CAL scout. i've already tested this in game, so i know this is true. ok. that's reasonable. play and counter play. however, this is where the problem comes:
the amarr scout then can stack 2 complex plates, which will give like 500 PHUCKING ARMOR, a complex rep, and 1 damp, which unless the cal scout is running 2 precision AND 2 damps, he can't effectively counter. and hell, this is just assuming 1 damp. what if the amarr scout is wearing 2? then the cal scout will have to run 3 precision and 2 damps to effectively counter the amarr scout.
for those of you who don't know, that's 235 shield 87 armor with max stats vs. like 75 shield and 500 armor.
i'll let that sink in...
i myself was able to manage against this blatant unbalance, but that doesn't make it right. i understand the amarr scout was in a bad place, but overbuffing it like this wasn't the answer for fixing it. and why the PHUCKING ***** did the gal scout get a precision bonus?
you know what? i'll answer that last one. because lolCCP Logic.

Cal scouts can just run two damps and four shields. Their un scannable, have 500ish health and insane shield regen. I fail to see how that is up. Also, if you disagreed with the changes, why didn't you speak up? Rattati listens to player feedback, and the scout community agreed with the changes. P.S. Weren't you the one complaining how the game was too easy after the scout buff?

Straight up, not complaining (as such) just an observation here....
Not counting militia and basics - when it comes to proto, pretty much the vast majority of the time I run into either scouts or heavies. Literally that is the diversity I see on a day to day basis at least when it comes to what the proto people are running.
Still plenty of Caldari scouts, I honestly dont see that many proto Gall and Amarr scouts.
HMG heavies and Scouts, though a saving grace is at least the scouts use a variety of weapons, they are certainly not all shadow shotgunners.

Weren't you the one complaining how the game was too easy after the scout buff? there's not really any other viable options now. as i just stated in the OP, it's pointless to run anything other than shields now, and THAT'S the problem.
P.S. yeah, that was me. the game isn't challenging whatsoever unless i'm running an assault melee fit. that hasn't changed, even with the new hotfix, but that's not the point. i'm not the only cal scout in this game, and i don't want other cal scouts to be forced to just brick tank because there's quite literally no other viabe options.

A) Passive Shared Scans + Scanning Precision that Amarr couldn't beat + Range was completely negating the usefulness of Amarr and Minmatar scouts.
B) With the number of High Slots there really isn't a way to give Caldari much of a bonus to Precision without it being an issue.
C) Amarr needed a role, and it was either Range or Precision, and Precision would have made it much harder to balance the rest of the scouts around.

I tried to read this thread. But I didn't. I'm only commenting to point out to anyone here to learn, that OP's post is not an example of how to start honest helpful dialogue.
2/10 for using a lot of words. I'm giving you credit for appearing to care. |

Cal scout could use a low slot, or move range amps to high slot. Can't say they are underpowered, just comparitively gimped in relation to other scouts. Not complaining, seeing every medium & heavy in 80m is nice. All i got to worry about is those other scouts.
Have you considered a career in costumed aggression?

I think they are really only gimped in relation to Gal scouts, as they have all those Low Slots to work with, and can dampen and still be flexible.
That is not a Cal Scout weakness, but a symptom of the flexibility and usefulness of Low Slot mods over Highs.
