Something cool we could get fairly easily is deployable active scanners. Obviously they are not possible without a client update but it is still fun to imagine.
Variant 1:
Very limited range (10-15m) Very high precision. (increased by level / proto can pick up any non cloaked non dampened scout) 3 carried / 2 active
1 scan every 20 seconds with 10 seconds of visibility
Variant 2 :
Longer range (increased by level) medium precision (can not pick up any scout or dampened assault suits) 2 carried / 1 active
1 scan every 20 seconds with 15 seconds of visibility.
1 of each variant at each level to prevent spamming of them.
Preferably they would have a different text than "You Have Been Scanned" maybe something like "Stationary Scanner Detected" |

I think deployable scanners is a much better idea than passive scans and handheld scans that for sure, but that's just my opinion.

Initial reaction: That's actually pretty neat... After some thought: Wait, more equipment spam? No no no no.

Passive scans are good but should not be shared.
Handheld scans are useless right now thanks to passive giving that intel to your squad with little interruption at not cost.

Agreed but if they are taking up the slot that would be spamming hives or links then its not necessarily guaranteed to be more equipment spam and thanks to low variants they are much less spammable.
3 tiers x 2 deployed + 3 tiers x 1 deployed makes for at best 9 being active while uplinks reach well over 20 being able to be active per person once you count the variants. Even once you count Aurum variants there is less deployable (18) than links or hives.
Side note:
Even tho I love my uplink spam I think the number of variants could use some reduction just to curb the spam a little bit. |

50m range? Work like radar, with the dots only lighting up for a second when the rotating scanner passes over them? Full rotation in 15 seconds, so red dots flash every 15 seconds? Or should it be 10 seconds?
Could use the art work for a Nano Hive or Uplink and just use a different icon on the HUD. Optimizing an icon should not be too much of a demand on the Art Department. I am sure if Rattati dropped by the Art Department with a case of Imported Beer, he could probably requisition enough Dev time to make a new HUD icon for DUST.
Would be cooler to actually have unique artwork with a rotating scanning dish, but with the amount of beer that would take I am sure Rouge would notice the Art DepartmentGÇÖs sudden reduction the productivity.

Along these lines you could have deployable cloak field inhibitors that decloak anything within a radius of 15m or-so until destroyed. They would have to have a distinct visual look though (perhaps a strobe effect), otherwise it would be too hard to distinguish them from other equipment spam.
Best PvE idea ever!

This is a much better idea for active scans, though I'm not so sure about passives (I think they can be fixed in a different way).
Hitting two birds with one stone, to fix equipment spam, every suit should have a bandwidth with which equipment can be used. Logis will have a higher bandwidth obviously, perhaps increased by suit tier or logistics level. Each equipment is still limited to its max deployed number, but also to the suit's bandwidth. If the suit is changed such that the bandwidth cannot support the equipment, the earliest equipment(s) is/are destroyed (this to keep people from using a Logi suit to spam equipment and switching to another class). |

No, but I'm all for a Deployable Jammer.
Well, deployable equipment should be limited to 15 per team, first. |
