well this does over double that
at up to 80m range at full damage
0m-110m range effective range
its pretty silly, it was OP before it got its last buff

I've noticed a few more LR's and they do eat you up pretty quickly.
I might actually buy a 2nd keyboard for the ps3 and run kbm to show how stupid it is
it's stupid enough with a ds4, but the low framerate and lack of precision from a controller makes you miss quite a lot at long range

Long range its a killer. At short range hope you have a good backup weapon cuz yer screwed.
In CQC is still does 70% efficacy (which is still 900 dps) at 15m and 40% efficacy at 0m, you don't realise how powerful the buffs made it

Commando is best against single target and shield heavies due to the fast damage ramp
Assault is best against groups of enemies and armor heavies, due to the extra 20 shots they get from a heat cycle, so at the end of the clip you are literally just sweeping the beam over many people and they melt

the 10% bonus on commando isnt affected by stacking, which is where your maths breaks down (otherwise you would be correct and the assault would always be better than commando)
Commando 1*1.1*1.07 = 1.177 Assault 1*1.07*1.0581*1.0364 = 1.17378 (~1.174)
so for 1/3rd of the fitting cost of the upgrades, the commando still gets about +0.5% over the assault
Generally i wouldn't use the 3rd damage mod on the assault and put something homosexual like a shield extender on, i dont think a 3% damage boost after stacking really warrents 9 PG, so i normally put something else there, at which point the commando gets +4% over the assault
now factor in the fact that the commando's single superior damage mod also applies to a 2nd weapon, its just an extremely efficient suit if you can get over the god awful speed
and yes, the 20 rounds at the end of the heat capacity is tonnes more powerful than 4%, but it takes a good amount of time for the the damage to ramp to that level, generally shield suits are dead long before that point

Yes, i agree with you the assault is better with the 20 extra rounds
the problem is those 20 extra rounds are at the end, the small extra damage from the commando plus the bonused 2nd weapon is much more powerful vs targets that dont need those +20 rounds (non heavies basically)
