What do you do when your cloak is on cooldown? Where do you hide?

I've found the cloak to be a detriment most of the time. I end up having to worry about moving around the same way without it. It only adds the distraction of having to worry about cycling it.

Most maps have pillars or crevices to hide in while your cloak is on cooldown. If you are dampened then you can usually just run outside of the fire fight, behind some waist high cover and be mostly safe.

I wore a cloak when they first came out but not since then. I don't have much of a problem seeing a cloaked scout but part of me feels they are detrimental to the infantry side of the game.

I try and pay attention to my timer, especially if I am running a longer route to get to a lightly or undefended objective or CRU. I will decloak if I am in an area where there is cover to let it recharge before heading back out into the open.

Cloaks can be a detriment in really low light, and in most instances I run it as if I can be seen, because I can. It is particularly useful at the proto level when dealing with Amarr scouts specialized in scans and when you get the "You have been scanned" message.

That being said, always look for back ways in, and try to flank. That way, even if your cloak timer runs out, you will be out of their field of vision and can still be stealthy.

Worst comes to worst, I try and have my gun out instead of my knives if I am uncloaked and think I might run head on into someone.

Real scouts don't use cloaks...only the post 1.8 scouts scrubs need cloak. And I don't call people who need cloaks scouts anyway

I use a cloak. It has legitimate scout uses, and not everyone uses it for broken mechanics.

Really? Sounds like you're a tad too over dependent on that cloak there Aajli. By the time my cloak is on cool down, I'm hiding or ambushing some poor soul. The cloak isn't hard to use; it's super duper easy mode.

Edit: Unless your primary role is relaying enemy positions to your teammates, none of you are real scouts.

I used to hide back when they first released. After the nerf, I kept running wherever I wanted to go. They're so useless now... without the long durations, it's just a tool to be used for CQC combat.

That is exactly what I do as well. If there's a large group of enemies all the sudden I'll change course, but if I'm still on track to my target, I'll just keep going that direction.

The cloak is something scouts needed a long time ago.

Technically Minmatar Scout is not about "relaying enemy positions "
It's about hacking a point and clearing a point for teammates. Amarr Scout is better for relaying, Cal and Gal for dropping uplinks and killing any stragglers and Minmatar as I said above.

I cleared out a point the blue dots one day, just kniving anybody I seen in the area and then take off. I couldn't hack the point because after I killed someone, someone else would come in. Unfortunately nobody came and hacked the point, then the game lagged out and I got no isk for my skillzzzz!!1!
