So I've been playing dust alot lately, and my red dualshock 3 controller has kind of stopped responding when i press L3 (run). Does anyone know a fix?

Buy a new controller :/
After putting probably a thousand hours of dust gameplay on that controller where I'm sprinting all over the place I'm pretty sure that you have the same issue as me lol

New controller im afraid. Its more than likely fixable if you resolder the socket on the circuitboard underneath which is likely to be loose, but its not a guaranteed fix. New controller is what I had to do too.

I had that problem briefly for a match when using a logi suit. I'm not sure if your case is a bug or a hardware issue. Have you tried other games that use the L3 button?

Is it or was it opening the map or other menus randomly on attempted sprint? If so, then your ribbon cable just needs additional padding for better contact. Fixed mine like that. |

I tried that too. All it made was a whistling noise.

Iv'e gotten the bug where I can't sprint or melee but my walking speed was slightly faster than sprinting speed.
It is occasional even with my new controller (Even more common with my scout g-1)

It is a known issue. Happens all the time when switching equipment/weapons etc. Crouch to fix in game.

ADAM-OF-EVE wrote:mine used to throw grenades when i sprinted or open the map... time for a new controller for you Mine used to do the same thing. Caused me many deaths. You DON'T have to buy a new one if this happens. All you need is a screwdriver and tape.
Open up the controller, carefully remove the motherboard. Then, you'll see a thin piece of plastic on a rubber like strip. All you need to do, is roll the tape up and place it between the plastic and the rubber so that it acts as suspension for the plastic.
As for the L3 dilemma, I don't know a fix. It never happened to me. |

We've had posts exactly like this several times before. People who move tactically are going to wear that button out.
The only other controller malfunction that comes to mind are people who threw them against the wall or one buddy who took his outside and smashed it with a hammer. This game does weird things to people.

Best thing to do is get a new controller
I recommend the dualshock 4, just make sure you also get something like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00GH7UA32/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They go over the top of the stick rubber, because the stock ds4 rubber is terrible and will tear after 10 or so hours of use, especially while playing an FPS

The DS4 only works with the ps3 if its plugged into it, wireless isnt a thing unfortunately
I'd rather use a controller designed for the ps3.

Any suggestions for good controllers that work with the ps3 with the same basic layout? (Not a turbopad)

If you are not accustomed to working with electronics in this manner, it may be frustrating... Make sure you don't knock the L2/R2 buttons out of position while dismantling the controller otherwise level 5 annoyance mods spontaneously attach to the would-be technician...
You can find other vids that demo that same as well but this is basically it... Worked for me for one of two controllers that I could properly re-assemble... Your welcome!
Be just and if you can't be just be arbitrary.
