would it be possible to make a variant of the massdriver that launches av type rounds that function similar to av grenades but also explode after a shorttime on the ground (10-15 seconds)? |

It won't until I create a killing field with a clip then drive the lemming reds into it with another clip. Kind of like pe/re fields in FW now, just with less running around to make it happen. Oh, the tears.....

10 seconds per round also won't create an AV weapon with any actual application or viability. Vehicles would literally take the hit, drive away, repair, come back and shoot you by the time the second round is ready.
Don't get me wrong, I love the idea. But could it be used in an easily-perceived-as-OP manner very easily? Ummm... yeah.
And trust me, from my experience with the Plasma Cannon, the cryhards ALWAYS win.

Ok, I took "10 seconds per round" as the RoF, if its 10 seconds to detonate I shall be the stairwell king!! Hell, the "meatgrinder" console just got waaaaay easier to clear out from the top rim of the furnace too...Have I said I like this idea yet? Every blind corner just became an RE trap that doesn't even require actual detonation! My Commando will PWN in cqc with this!! I might even slap one on my logi, so as to create a total homocide zone for when my heavies have been killed and our position is being overrun!! Trollololols for me when that redsquad finally breaks through and stops to give our biomass the bag only to be obliterated by time-delay explosives spread all around the area!!! XD

I can't tell you how many times I've pitched out AV nades at infantry and wished the things (at some point) would just explode.

Personally I would prefer. 6 round mag, 0 splash, 300 direct damage, 10% efficency to Infantry (for balance), 4 second reload, 360 RPM.

With this even after they die the grenades will still blow up. Killing a would be hacker or giving them time to spawn in to repeat.

My only advice is to temper any effect with how AV Grenades used to default into land-mines after being tossed on the ground. It was a feature that was not well received. Although those were permanent unlike the fuse durations suggestions above.

A av oriented mass driver...................we already got that. It's called the Breach Mass Driver. Very high direct damage with moderate splash and very small splash radius.
Also yes it does need a buff to rate of fire and more direct damage to be viable but YES, WE HAVE ONE ALREADY!
