With price and ranges and all that. Modules, vehicle types etc. Give back Marauders, Enforcers etc.
Make AV insanely strong again.
AND then do the nerfing/buffing/balancing from there.
Could even implement some of the good ideas that have been done, like ammo and the change to small turrets and large missiles. Obviously adjusting all that to match the proper turret variant.
I honestly don't mind if you make vehicles explode from simple rocks thrown at them if I can just have the variety back.
Pretty please?

Are you vehicle pilot?
If so, what do you have against variety? You like it simple? There are already tons of other games with simple vehicle gameplay that do it better and don't have to invest any ingame currency on those simple vehicles.
If not, then what do you have against this?

V/AV is more balanced now than it was back then. How about be look at bringing back the old modules and introducing them into this new more balanced environment, to make vehicles more interesting.

You would have to de-nerf AV entirely to cope with marauders. They ran 7k HP sagaris tank on average. 8000-9000 on the Surya.
They were considered largely OP and could not be shot down in a single mag of any weapon even when assault forges had a base charge time of 2.5 seconds. The forge guns also hit harder, had full benefit of proficiency against armor AND shields, and had 10% damage mods.
I was able to solo them but it was usually a 6/1 suit loss/kill of a full prototype fat fit with three damage mods racked in the high slots.
In the current AV environment re-introducing marauders as they were in chromosome would require the systematic reversal of every single AV nerf since then.
As marauders were in the current AV meta they would be utterly unstoppable. I disagree they were OP but they were incredibly difficult to solo and difficult to two-man focus fire. A single AV gunner had no chance of killing any marauder with a single magazine. It was a five-shot dead minimum to kill a sagaris crapfit with an Ishukone Assault Forge. Six for a good one. Six for a crapfit Surya, eight for a good one.
Adding marauders and enforcers would require the systematic reversal of all AV nerfs in order to make them tacklable. They wpuld be toxic to the current meta and be nerfed within a month or removed for rebalance.

As long as I have this very restricted slot layout on vehicles, I'm not even interested in more modules, just makes a headache trying to find any reason to fit any secondary modules instead of fitting a primary module. If I get more fitting freedom, then yeah, ok, but that would break the balance completely.

And in the current state of other vehicles it would totally break the balance towards other vehicles, which is why it cannot be done without a complete reversal of everything concerning AV and vehicles.

I did some vehicling prior to 1.7 and I must say that shield vehicles were terrible. Regen was low and boosters weren't too effective, hardeners lasted 5sec, the best counter tank vs tank was to ram us, small missiles had almost no splash or splash damage, remote repairers were a hassle and not very effective, etc etc.
Honestly, I'm not satisfied with the stair quo either: I hate that there are only 2-3 viable fits per vehicle, lack of module variety and low slot counts to utilize non-hp mods, etc etc, but I feel that another total revamp would be better than going back, even if you kept a few current features. |

Waaaaaaht?!?! Small missiles had no splash or splash damage? Small missiles were great on ADS even back then, they just didn't have the ridiculous RoF that they have now. Remote repairers not effective? Oh my... They were insanely effective in the right hands. Shield vehicles were insanely good when you had logi support. Regen was slow and that's the way I liked it, boosters weren't too effective, I'll give you that, they should have been on par with armor repairers, not entirely like armor repairers but on par with them anyway. Hardeneres were short, yeah, I'll give you that one too. But you had passive hardeners too. Those were good.
But then again, read my OP again. Because you clearly didn't if you have to complain about things like these.

Rattati already said they'd bring back the old vehicles in a more balanced way.
I highly doubt they'd bring the modules back after all the trouble though. Way too many tweaks to swarms for this to be possible. |
