I can't figure it out
Even with my Caldari Assault I'm always running into the problem of dying before I can get my shield regen to kick in. This has me resorting to plates or armor repair in order to have enough time for me to get behind cover, or to survive that damn RR hitting the last chunk of my armor.
I guess part of the reason I'm having trouble is that I don't judge my shield bar as much as my armor...
but at the same time I always get down to my last bits of shield hp and it seems like my shields just don't come back fast enough before I have to engage the enemy again. If they even tick my shields with 1 point of damage I have to keep waiting and extra shield delay amount.
My current one is a 600 shield, 50 regen assault with two regulators and an armor rep...but even with my shields having almost a 70% reduction to delay, it still doesn't feel like enough. I'm also not sure that 50 hp/s is fast enough. at 12 seconds, it's still quite a bit of time.
Does the penalty from complex extenders (rather than enhanced) affect the delay such a large amount that it could be my issue? Would a third complex regulator help me out enough to swap for the armor rep? Would a shield recharge of 80+ be significantly better than 50 even at the reduction of hp?

Try 2 Complex energizers 3 Complex shield extenders 1 Complex Regulator 1 Basic plate 1 Basic rep 6kin ACR smg flux k-2 nano hive If you drop the K-2 to a compact you should be able to fit either an Enhanced Plate/Rep or a Complex Plate Basic rep if you want the extra buffer Recharges at 86.5 shields a second with delays of 3 and 4.5 seconds and clocks in at 863 HP with a pretty decent armor buffer. You can also swap the reg for a kinkat which will give you more CPU with which to fit and you can run away. I don't actually have a cal ass only the min which has even worse delays and max shields though when I get around to skilling into another suit it will be Cal ass.

1x recharger 4x extender 2x regulator 1x Reactive
My fit has 2 second delay just don't let your shields go down completely

I run min assault so i have actually same and similar issues but i survive nonetheless better than other suits for some odd reason. I always run 1 shield regulator but i don't run the heavy armor plates. It slows me down too much if i have to make an escape. I run mainly reactives to give me a little extra armor and rep for a nil penalty and then run cardio to keep my mobility up and i can run for a while if i'm being chased by anything less than a scout.
I think your playstyle needs to change as you have said it yourself.

Cal and Min suits fight on their shields, not armor. The moment your down to half-shields then you need to disengage or break contact. Your shields come back and recharge faster if you don't let them drop all the way.
If you are running point blank or in their face then armor is the best hands down. If you are too close to break contact then you have to kill your enemy before you lose your shield. If not, then your fighting the wrong war.
Caldari fights at range so they can easily avoid excess fire by staying out of range Minmatar fight close to mid but uses hit and run tactics so they are never in the fight long enough to take serious damage and very fast to get away.
I think you have been spoiled by prevalent armor tank fighting style. I think that is your issue the most, not the fit.

Try a 2 rechargers/energizers and 3 plates and a regulator, reactive plate, and KinCat in the lows. Decent shield tank with armor repair and speed to get away. |
