For every dollar I get for posting this, seriously.......
Don't get me wrong I will get Destiny when it comes out and will still play DUST514 time to time. But people, what truly kills a game is time and the community. Time is a good factor. Compared to games like COD since one comes out each year, there are people still playing MW2 online and it is still going on with no support, Borderlands 2 is still going on with no further support (despite the fact that a new Borderlands game is coming out SoonGäó), hell even Kingdom Hearts is still going with barely mentioning KH3 last E3.
The games I have seen that died due to time is Half-Life 2 since people stopped waiting for another addition, Need For Speed since EA strayed away from a system that worked back then and did not please the new generation, or even better (serving as a double advocate) EVERY FIRST PERSON SHOOTER AFTER 2006 BUT YET WE BUT THEM BECAUSE WE DO NOT KNOW ANY BETTER!!! This is due to the wheel not being reinvented but we kind of see in DUST514, HALO when it first came out before Bungie bailed on 4, and the new upcoming Destiny game with it's own re-inventing of the wheel.
And yes we the community kill the game with constant negative feedback and/or whining about the game. For example CCP does (can not believe I'm defending them) goes through a lot a crap when it comes to pleasing the community. best example is people crying that this weapon is Over Powered or my all time favorite He shouldn't be able to kill my suit with that gun. Constant whining and/or negative feedback = the developers will not hear you out especially cussing them out (I had my fair share of that). We as a community are too narcissistic to see how the changes we provide would affect others but also fail understand that there is no pleasing everyone unless there is a middle ground. And trust me when i say almost no one want to meet midway.
CCP developers are fully aware of the situation but they do need to do something to keep the retention rate high with the new players to the game and to the vets of the game. My suggestion to the community, stop playing seriously. By that I mean stop doing FOTM gear settings and try out a new fit every so often like one new fit a week or something. I bet if you do that the game would be a bit more fun than being serious. Hell I'm trying to think of fun fits when I catch myself being too serious. Keep trying to play serious to keep up with the FOTM, you will find the game getting boring quickly over time.
My $0.02. in the mix. That is all
