ScR has a magazine of 45 and the same optimal range, just sayin'...
The magazine size isn't the problem with the RR, it's the hipfire dispersion, if you fix that then it will fill its niche. If the TAR gets buffed by getting a larger magazine then it will become the new FOTM and be spammed by turbo controllers. I can already wreck a brick tanked heavy with the 18 shots that do around 70 damage a hit. Let alone the fact that the breach will become useless if it has the same sized magazine, it's already fairly useless as it does less dps than the AR, its only real use at the moment is it is damage efficient for non nano logistics while having better hipfire than the TAR.
If you want a long range AR with decent magazine size use the burst. It's pretty good at both range and CQC if you time the trigger pulls right and don't jam it. Same rule that applies to the standard CR. The TAR is the precision rifle variant of the plasma rifle. I don't understand why players QQ so much over AR weapons when they have the most variety and therefor the most options if you only skill into one rifle.

Forge guns swarm launchers plasma cannons sniper rifles mass drivers..... rail rifle 42. The problem with the tac ar is its clip size is only 18 after you shoot 10 rounds and most likely not kill the intended target you need to reload. Which basically makes the tac ar a rifle that can only be used to contain light to medium suits in an area. Not necessarily kill them its a weapon that you primarily have to hang back with and pop shots at people until you become kingbof kill assists. On the other hand you can take a R.R. and clean up shop mostly because of its armor damage profile. The tac ar is ok at mid range close range its awful and long range its a kill assist factory. Don't come and complain about turbo controllers because people dont mind using them on other rifles. Show of hands here who has been killed by a scout with a Tac Ar....Then ask yourself how many times you've been killed by a scoutwith a R.R. its just hilarious.
How does one fire 10 rounds and then have to reload when the magazine is 18? I already said why the RR needs to be tweaked and it's not the magazine size it's the dispersion pattern. The Scouts use RR over a TAR because Scouts DO NOT rely on precision aiming, they bunny hop and sprint about while hip firing.
The hip fire on the RR is too tight. I'm going to assume you have never used the RR though if you are proposing a smaller magazine to an automatic weapon with a spool up time. All those weapons you just listed, Forge guns, swarm launchers, PLC's etc. even the TAR are not automatic weapons. The only automatic weapons that have smaller magazines than the RR is the Breach AR. If anything the breach AR should have a larger magazine, but that isn't what you are arguing for. Hell, you aren't even upset logically with the fact that the ScR has a magazine of 45 and is a precision rifle exactly like the TAR.
Instead you take an automatic weapon you seem to despise, the RR, and then argue it should behave like a precision rifle the TAR. Which sure that sounds great to me, I'll be on board for your suggestion if the RR gets the same damage as the TAR and ScR IE. 70 damage a shot and it has the spool up time removed, in favor of single shot action. Until then it has the same damage as the Breach AR with superior stats, which should be working as intended. The PR can do many other things pretty well it isn't supposed to fulfill every role IE. burst > CR, breach > RR, TAR > ScR, it is only supposed to perform better as the AR > ACR/AScR/RR and when considering magazine size, ROF, and damage per shot it out dps's the other Assault variants across an even spread of shields and armor.
Of course, brick tanking armor is the easiest way to play the game as it relies on high e/hp with minimal mobility. And since it is the easiest thing to function as, you will see the most of it. I assure you however, the AR is the way to go when fighting dual tanks in CQC, and it's especially lethal to Caldari/Minmitar who tend not to have absurd levels of armor e/hp. Don't blame the AR, blame its damage profile against armor. You don't hear me bitching when a flux grenade wipes all of my shield based suits shields about OP even on my Caldari Heavy Sentinel. You idiots act like you have it bad and you have no idea.
Here's a tip for any of you would be AR users, don't ******* brick tank with a CQC rifle. You wouldn't brick tank with a shotgun, now would you? And for the love of god, do not go toe to toe way out of your optimal against Rail Rifles and ScRs unless you expect to lose.
Stop trying to argue that the AR should be the best rifle at everything. |
