Since the last hot fix with assault suits getting a buff, my Gal commando feels pretty meh. The Assault suit has more amour, fits better reps, better scan, has grenades, faster movement and far more fitting options. If they get the same slot layout as heavy suits would that make them overpowered? |

Then again...assault description says they have small arms damage resistance not higher eHP. That particular buff is on CCP though.
I do find it interesting that a min assault with nearly double my armor and shields ( as a min logistics) can run at scout speeds.
Was banned for fighting for logistics survival on 7/25/2014 02:11. Logistics will never be respected.

Given the buff to assault i think the commando's should get an overall slot boost I see the assault have 4 slots basic 6 slots advanced 8 slots proto
at least this is what i got for my min assault. High and lows balanced respectively for their racial profile
my commando slot count is 2 basic 3 advanced 4 proto
I think it would be wise to have commando as a somewhat cross of assault and sentinel and ought to have their slot count just below the slot count of assaults. My proposition would be
3 basic 5 advanced 7 proto
I really do feel that it's definitely worth the cost of upgrading to a higher tier suit for 2 extra slots per tier. It works great and worth to have for the extra survivability or enhanced ability for the cost. Especially for the cost jump to proto, one slot does not justify the extra 20k-30k isk for the suit

I think they're closer to assaults than we think. Having a damage bonused second light weapon instead of an unbonused sidearm is huge. EHP and passive rep can end up pretty equal, but the speed, smaller hitbox, better scans, and grenade tip the scales into assaults' favor. I think if commandos just had one more slot at every level--and fittings to match--it would make them equal. |

Commando is not so different from an assault and i don't miss a light weapon if i can have a sidearm. So, yes, i would give them more slots i would give them a grenade too, i don't see the reason why they should not have it.
More slots (even just a +1) and a grenade slot would turn them into a slow assault, with more hp but bigger hitbox and 2 light weapons, it seems balanced to me.
If heavies can have 1200+ eHP and resistances, the commando can be buffed.

One more module would be welcome, however, I feel that what the commando need if we stay with the current modules setting is a PG/CPU BUFF. On my proto galmando, I have two specialist weapons (federation duvolle and specialist proto swarm (not the state version, because IGÇÖm pro gallente). What I mean is that command currently have less HP, less speed, a greater hitbox and less modules than assault (at proto level, assault have twice the number of modules). So my opinion is that if commandos stay as they are, proto commando need to be able to have a FULL proto modules suit if the user have two specialist weapons (racial bonus or simply a dropsuit buff).
If we are given new modules, we need only one (low for gallente/amarr and high for caldari/minmatar), but the PG/CPU is clearly what lack on the commando at the hour.

Since the commando is so resource tight and has so few slots letting them fit universally at the suits tier level should make them on par with assaults but not overbearing.
By at tier if you are running adv you can fit 100% adv. At pro 100% pro. More than that could throw em out of whack.
This is from the perspective of someone who is fairly good at rocking std commando fits. It wouldnt take a whole lot to take them from "meh" to asinine OP. |

If they get the same slot layout as heavy suits would that make them overpowered? i think commandos need a full rework.. i do like the dual light slots but i feel they are too slow and too fat.. they need to be faster and have a smaller hitbox then normal/sentinel heavies and even assault suits get more eHP then commandos now when i think commandos were supposed to be the entrenched fighters with eHP but that is not the case.
as for Cal-mando they need a lowslot because basic calmando do not do well
so i would agree with +1 slot on each commando.. and hopfully they will slim down and not be as fat

standard.. fits full standard with soo much room to spare you could slot in some adv gear.. adv.. getting a little tight just to fit adv.. pro.. cannot fit full pro at all
and this problem is across ALL the suits and meta's
