Pick either medium or assault if you have it. Put on AV grenades, swarmlauncher, and SMG. Now put on some setup of sheild/armor mods on. damage mods if you can fit them. Nano hives keep you being AV longer or nano stick keeps up your protection by other players.
My current setup is to fire one swarm launcher then act confused or nooby. Then whip two av nades and fire two more volleys it tends to heavily damage or destroy most grounds units. Air units it takes a bit more luring.
At minimum you should have one non starter fit. as the starter stuff for some races is horribly broken like the Amarr. Having only two high slots and now low slots on its free crap.
NEVER stand still. Just don't. This is just the basic everyone should have set up. even 1 point in swarmlauncher and grenades opens your options massively. never underestimate this. 1 point in grenades gives you 2 locus grenades instead of one, AV grenades, and Flux grenades. 1 point in swarm launchers adds a round to the clip. making it easier to spam the tank to death or chase off the air craft.
I know this is pretty bare bones as a guide. but this is just the minimum someone should have with a few tips. The main one being use cover and just peek out enough to lock on. Because that tank will blow your face off with only a few shots. if your baiting the tank it always helps to have some prox RE behind you so when it pulls into fire at you it takes massive damage. So getting one level in that helps as well. Combining multiple sources of damage to take the tank down when he least expects it. Most tanks assume you only have the swarm launcher so having two to three different ways to kill makes him less likely to just drive into your squad and more likely to do light drive bys keeping more people alive.
As for the heavies. Just don't use the breach forge gun its asking to die in most matches. there are small windows you have to use it and run. The assault just straight up beats the normal version. You don't have the option for RE but you still can have AV nades. So think about using those as well. for when tanks close the gap and just slap them up side the head with both.
Commandos are special. They can have the AV nades, swarm launcher, and a light weapon. so its similar to using a medium frame plus having a back up light weapon instead of a sidearm.
As for scouts. RE the tank and rinse and repeat because we all know that just instant kills it. No point makes a lightly armored suit not have a main weapon so use AV nades if you want just don't no give yourself a main weapon. also nova knives are pretty damn powerful if used right.
None of this needs to be proto but it is needed on some level at least. |

Personal preference when I was starting was mlt gal heavy+ mlt forge, high enough alpha to at least chase off lesser skiller vehicles, and reps to keep me alive after.

Thanks for pointing that out about commandos. I forgot they don't have a grenade slot. Anyway I can see your point about that but more often then not its just some scrub in the tank and blueberries too stupid to not get mowed down. Also as I said this is bare minimum to be useful. I wasn't talking optimal. So the scout might be good but hes even more frail then the medium if caught in the act. You might be able to use the scout well but a good chunk of people can not. |

Couple of things wrong here... A) Breach Forge is not a soloist weapon its a team weapon they are meant to be used in tandem with other AV or if you are good enough sniping the weak spot for a one shot kill on less skilled tankers
B)nvm folks already mentioned the lack of nades on commandos first point stands though

Addendum: If you are engaging a target inside 100 meters you should have started running to your LAV 20 meters ago with the Breach Forge Gun. |

TBQH, for me bare minimum on AV is proto and damage modded. I'm there to kill the vehicle, none of that deterrence BS, nothing else will suffice.
Currently my go to is either Ishukone Assault FG with Lia Dai packed AV grenades and the advanced smg on the Gallente Haevy.
Or Wiyrkomi SL with Lai Dai packed AV grenades an Ion Pistol on my Gallente Assault Suit. (Dat ion pistol tho...)
And if I don't feel like losing money that match and it's only a few tanks, then my Guristas Saga +6 REs do the trick quite well.

I run a scout AV with a KLA, M209, EX-11 packed and F/45's I put 1 RE on it 2 if I can, hit the tank with my PLC then trash it with AV nades, by now it's running and I blow the RE's 9/10 it will destroy armor tanks, shield are faster so they can get away easier but it still works. Well overall.
