Immortal Guides, with the assistance of Dead ManGÇÖs Game, are organizing an event we are calling: Dropship Deathmatch.
This event is open to the public and will be held within Immortal Guides' PC District. Anyone who is interested in participating should post here and I will add you to a mailing list, and when the final arrangements for the event or in place you will be contacted with the details.
Time: 23:00 GÇô 00:00 time slot. (Late for EU, and Early for US. It is a compromise.) Date: To be announced. Event Format:
- 3 person squads consisting of a pilot and two gunners. These smaller squads will be formed on the Warbarge once you get in. When joining squads to get into the match, make sure all members of your flight crew join the same CorpGÇÖs squads so you will be on the same team.
- Each flight crew (squad) will have a Standard or Militia Dropship. When discussing this with experienced pilots I was advised that it would not be balanced if I allowed experienced pilots to bring in Assault Dropships. After the main event, the ADS pilots can stage their own solo event to see who the top ADS pilot is.
- No ground based AV.
- No hacking turret installations.
- Free for all, ignore Red and Blue tags.
- You are vying for GÇ£Last Dropship FlyingGÇ¥.
- Once your Dropship is shot down you become a spectator. (If a gunner is killed and respawns you are allowed to pick them up though.)
- Shared chat channel before and after the contest, but squad chat when in combat. Once you are shot down you can rejoin the shared channel for trash talk and to share a good laugh.
- All participants are encouraged to send 1 million ISK to the pilot of the GÇ£Last Dropship FlyingGÇ¥. The pilot can distribute the winnings to their crew. Yes, I could charge an entrance fee and pay the winners out of that, but that would require a lot of administrative work which I would rather not bother with, so we will go with the honor system this time.
If you are interested in participating, please post below, and indicate whether you are a pilot or a gunner. If you have your team figured out, post the names of your Pilot and Gunners.

I will be participating on my second character, Crash Gaden. Not only have I sunk more skill points into vehicles on him than on Fox, but I feel his name more accurately describes my abilities as a pilot.

Can you think of any other Dropship pilots with capture devices? Not really, but if you're going with 3 man squads, even if you get them completely full you still have 1 free slot per team, so they can just be infantry sitting on towers and hills for an outside perspective. rather than just the 1st or 3rd person view from the pilots. It would be really cool if we could get recordings from both perspectives and have one of them splice the footage together after to show all the action better.

I was doing some non DUST stuff over the weekend, but I am back now and looking for 10 pilots and 20 gunners. There may also be one press pass position on each team for YouTub videographers.

The more people we can get to record the better. It would be awesome if we could get footage from multiple perspectives and have someone splice it together for a clear view of the action.

We will probably hold the event sometime next week. I want to wait for more people to sign up as many who express interest will not actually show up for any number of reasons, so it is best to over book to insure we get a full complement of dropship pilots.
My priority is to get 5 Dropships on each team, so we need 10 pilots. Several people are willing to either pilot or man the guns, so if we get more than 10 pilots we should still be ok.
We can get by with 1 gunner in a dropship playing musical chairs to switch between the two guns if we donGÇÖt get enough gunners, although obviously a dropship would be more effective with two. So we need to have at least 10 gunners and no more than 20.
There will be two spectator positions available, one per team.

Does this mean I can have a forge sit on top of my Dropship and do this? Somehow I knew that would come up when I wrote GÇ£no ground based AVGÇ¥.
I donGÇÖt think that is quit in the spirit of the Dogfight I wanted to stage. However, it might be fun to have dueling Sentinel Surfers as a sideshow after the main event, and the ASD event are done. If we donGÇÖt hack the objectives we could have over an hour to fool around.

Well i think it would be more amusing this way. :P Militia Bumper dropships. Possibly another mini event after the main events are completed.
Also I am not going to restrict ramming in the main event, so if that is your styleGǪ. If we are short on gunners, now we know which Dropship doesnGÇÖt need one.
Although, I think some of the experienced pilots may be a bit frustrated with getting rammed, so if you are known to fly that style, donGÇÖt be surprised if some of them gang up to take you out early.

Please, no Forge Guns during the main event! However, someone did suggest Forge Gun surfing battles as one of the follow-up events. That would be dueling Forge Gun Sentinels surfing on top of dropships. (Almost as cool as Sharks with Lasers!)

Judge Rhadamanthus has agreed to stream the event. It looks like he will be flying a camera dropship, but will not be participating in the dogfight. I have suggested that he fly his ADS so we can easily identify his Dropship as not being one of the participants. So GÇ£DonGÇÖt shoot at the white DropshipGÇ¥ will be the order of the day.
(Of course if someone does shoot at the camera ship, they are libel to get Judged! )

It would not hurt for pilots to line up their own gunners. If you can't find anyone there will be some gunners signed up, so you may pick up some in the Dropship Deathmatch channel before the event, but that might be more hit and miss.

Follow-up events which may follow the main event:
- ADS free-for-all combat. - Forge Gun surfing. Forge Gun Sentinels duke it out while surfing on top of Dropships. - Militia Bumper Dropships. Free-for-all ramming battle. - Catch the ADS. Standard/Militia Dropships try to ram a single ADS. - Dropship Football. Each team has 1 ADS and the rest Standard/Militia Dropships. First team to knock out the other teamGÇÖs ADS wins. Pilots only. Blocking the apposing team to defend your ADS is a valid defensive tactic.
We will likely not have time for all of these.
Any other event suggestions?

No restrictions on modules. Only restriction in the main event was no ADS, due to the additional fire power. No restrictions on suits. Generally I avoid restrictions unless there is a really good reason for one.

Well, that was a lot of fun!
We had the Dropship Deathmatch and the ADS free for all. But when we were setting up the Forge Gun surfer battle we all got simultaneously kicked from the match. So a bunch of us went into a PUB match and fooled around with Forge Gun surfing until our MCC was almost dead, and then we ran in and cloned the other team in the last 5 minutes of the match.
Someone did record it, so once it gets edited and posted I will try to post a link.
We are thinking about doing a LAV Death Race next time.
