Supply depots have long been a broken mechanic allowing people to not only switch to a suit with 100% health but also granting them temporary invincibility after they switch suits. Most of the time this isn't much of an issue because people are using it to legitimately switch suits or heal up after a fight. It's during a fight that this becomes an issue where people that are about to die can quickly switch suits and become invincible for a few moments which is usually long enough for them to kill the person that was about to kill them and it also gives them an edge against anyone else that is there.
My first suggestion is to remove the copy & pasted spawn mechanic used for switching suits so that there is no period that a player is unable to take damage after switching suits.
My second suggestion is to make it so that after switching suits you only have 25-50% of that suit's armor and no shields depending on suit type.Of course this would unfairly penalize people that are legitimately switching suits, especially those without armor reps. Which is why I also propose that after switching suits a players gains 5 or so armor reps per second depending on the suit until the difference is repped. So say a scout suit has 366 armor but after switching, it starts with 183 armor and begins repping itself until it has repped 183 points of armor; but a heavy suit with 1195 armor would start with 298 armor and would rep itself until 897 points of armor have been repped. This also should take into account any other reps (rep tool, hives, and modules) so that heavy couldn't get repped up by a logi and then have magic reps for a bit.
If it's possible for this to only apply when an enemy is within a certain distance of the supply depot then that would work out great as well. (I'm not sure how much of this would require a client side update)
The idea isn't completely flushed out but that's what this section is for. So lets discuss and tweak this idea until it is fair to people that legitimately switch suits while punishing those that are trying to abuse a broken mechanic.

This is just one of those issues that is inherent, like spawn camping. It's a way to exploit the mechanics and it really can't be helped. I sincerely doubt CCP is going to bother with this.
However they SHOULD make far less difficult for vehicles to reach supply depots.

That already has it's own topic so keep it there.

Agreed. Personally, I'd like to see depots force you to keep the same percentage of shields/armour as the suit you switched from, but also have a built-in aura of armour reps (as for vehicles) and maybe a recharger bonus (as in, shields recharge at a higher rate.) Perhaps both auras would be akin to a STD module of the relevant kind.

The game despawns and respawns you so it uses the spawn mechanics. It's a thing. It's why the health regens.
Just add a five second delay to suit swapping where you have to stand still similar to a hack and the nerds will have to clear the field to swap out first.
Problem solved.

I kinda think the suit swapping should be a percentage... You switched suits when you have 10 armor on a scout with your max armor at 100? Sucks when you switch to that 1000 armor heavy cause you only got 100 to play with.
I prefer that over the 50% switch or the suit delay... (50% of 1000 is 500 for example) |

A better solution is that there needs to be limit where you need to be out of combat for 5s, taking damage or deploying equipment, before being able to use the supply depot.
