On one map I frequently catch snipers in a particular location perched well into their redline. OK, fine by me, but I know he's there now so I would just switch out to my sniper fit and go pop a quick +60.
Or at least I used to. With this new scope it is is nearly impossible.
This particular sniper spot is ~500m away from roughly the middle of the map where I set up to counter snipe. With the old scope reticle I could line up the shot in a few seconds and pop a face open. This with a no damage mod Gal sniper starter fit and not a single point in sniping. In one match I caught three snipers in that spot and two quick pulls of the trigger later two were down and the third was running for cover.
Now with the new scope, lining up the shot is fubar. I can't tell if the target is centered or not. At that distance the target fits almost entirely in the circle.
Just a few days ago I tracked down a Thales user to that spot and he also had two friends with him. I couldn't line up the headshot even when it looked right. Instead of one it took SIX shots over almost 3 minutes to put him down. I gave up on headshots and went with kill by attrition. I would hit, he would move, I wait and hit again, he moved...and so on. In the end I got the Thales and one other as the third finally ran, but it took waaaaaay too long.
Today I spotted one more in that location. Having learned my lesson I ran a mlt cal scout with three enhanced damage mods. It's safe, I don't need armor because they never see it coming....Nope. I had him dead to rights but couldn't put him down. Put the circle on him and it turns red,but his whole body is in the shot. Try to zero in on skull and circle goes blue. So I had to settle for pot shots which took so long he found me and I'm dead. Now I need to bring armor with me I guess.
I'm not sure what flight of fancy prompted the change in reticle, but I do know it has had a detrimental effect on counter sniping. Maybe the new scope was a stealth nerf to sniper rifles. It didn't work. Snipers are still getting kills from where they are, but to find a vantage point to counter snipe them places you at distances too far to be successful.
I want my solid center point reticle back.

I hate the new circle/scope.
Not a big deal since I only snipe like 0.1% if my time playing dust.
However head glitching ( spelling ) tower/redline sniper a-holes are even harder to counter snipe now.
Down to 0% sniping for me =ƒÿÄ

I would love to see that.
As a dedicated S/S since I started this game a year ago,
That could bring me back from my hiatus since 1.8

Goofing around last night, pulled out a adv calcom with a charge sniper and kalaak tac, went 25-0 in the first match, 23-3 in the second.
Rather enjoyed the new reticle as I could now effectivly line up head shots of those on the run, and pull out the tac for effortless counter sniping.
I approve.
Assault since Replication.
We've come full circle.
Finally.

I don't think it's that bad honestly, just people having issues adjusting or too far away from/too small of a tv to be able to really see what's in the exact middle. I still confirm with the efficiency % just to be sure it's a headshot.
