Since we only are allowed to to use clones by the kindness of the four factions, why would they tolerate paying someone who doesn't work? New Eden has no use for soldiers unwilling to.fight. They such be biomassed forcefully in an executionary manner. That would serve as a good deterrent I feel.
Or not award passive sp or isk to players while they are in the redline. But personely I feel option one is better. There's no excuse.to AFK, RL getting in the way? Leave the match then lol.
If Preparation is half of the battle and knowing is the other half, Then there is no need to fight.

No points, passive or otherwise while in the redzone is what I like... Forces people to fight their way out of the redzone, even if your team doesn't follow, you get a nice cut of what their reward would have been for trying. |

That's even better, why should they get a share of reward when they don't share the work.

You're right Coleman: It makes no sense in terms of immersion or backstory. I know that for myself there is no feeling that when we drop into a battle that we're working on contract for any of New Eden's ruthless corporations or militaries. The passive payout structure honestly feels more like state-based charity and is a powerful reminder that DUST is not really New Eden, but rather a poorly-designed CCP game.
Far worse, imo, is that it encourages passivity in mercs and works against other game dynamics such as warpoint mechanics and squad/social mechanics.
Tbh, passive in-match sp really go a long way towards making my lonewolf lifestyle not merely viable, but lucrative in terms of game rewards.
CCP's stated reasoning behind their recalcitrance to address this damaging mechanic is to support weaker players. I feel that in the long run this anti-meritocratic sp charity reduces the quality of the game experience for every single player of DUST.
How then do we support struggling players? We have to find a fair and balanced way to encourage action over passivity. Rattati is currently talking over matchmaking using an ELO-based system that characterizes player strength based on a single statistic, -¦(or mu).
I propose that the passive 1SP/s charity be dropped, and replaced with a simple -¦-based ratio multiplier to our our current WP payout system. A player's WP payouts would then be multiplied by their -¦ divided by the average mu for the players in the that match(-¦-player/-¦-average). In the case of WP derived from hives, uplinks, etc. this would then be a simple multiplyer to WP payouts. In the case of kills and assists, the mutiplier could come from the -¦ ratio for the players involved, so that a struggling noob taking down a lethal top-of-the-leaderboards vet could potentially earn hundreds of WP for that kill, whereas the vet would earn much less for killing the noob.
Personally, i would also like to see this -¦-ratio multiplier applied to ISK payouts.
In terms of immersion, it would be as if the corporations that we're selling our services to were paying bounties for kills of the stronger players on the opposing side. And that is how New Eden business is done, after all ;)
We the players would get the best of both worlds: Our game would become a lot more hardcore but at the same time struggling players would still be taken care of and encouraged by the game mechanics to make the biggest impact they could on the battlefield.

It should be something like that:
0 WP = 0 SP(and ISK for match)
Clean and simple, but the whole War Point system need to be reworked in first place - what actions is being rewarded with WP, for how much and why in general.
As a speed scout I usually take 2-3 Null canons in pub. matches at the beginning, and my team focus on guarding one ore two of them and they hold it for at least half match if they know what to do. Those moments at the beginning of match are crucial to win match by destroying enemy MCC, because it is much more simple to defend Null rather then attack it. If you want to capture enemy Null you need to take enemy CRU, kill everyone on it to do so, find all DU and drop yours, and then you can try to capture Null. So yea, defending Nulls is easier and I think I'm doing great job by taking that many of them at the beginning, and I'm not being rewarded by system properly compare to people that get 50WP for killing someone, not to mention that they may deal 1% of damage to that guy, when he was already badly hurt.
WP rewards on Skirmish, Domination should be different from those on Ambush where killing enemy is primary objective to win match. All action terminal-related should get bonus points, for example killing guy who is hacking terminal should be more rewarding; or killing guy who is defending terminal in close proximity to Null should get you more WP then killing some lone-wolf ****-know-where-away-from-terminal .

Hey, they're already logged on to DUST. Isn't that punishment enough?
K/D(r) matchmaking fixes the whole game. Red line snipers and tankers hate it.

They choose to.do.that, no one makes them play.the game, if their so bad that their afraid to play the game then why are they playing? Waste of time and money for them.

Honestly why should you care? I don't understand the point of doing it when you can get more sp and isk from actually playing but whatever. |

Snipped to save space.
Actually sounds like it could work. I like the idea a lot. It gives incentive to lower SP players to actually fight, regardless if they are winning or losing, while discouraging proto-stomping. If everyone wants to get decent WP/SP, they need to be in similar level gear.
If I'm not mistaken it would also bring the game in line with the high risk, high reward philosophy. Running in low tier fits and doing well will net you high gains for your vulnerability on the field. Whereas going full proto against 16 randoms will give you little beyond amusing ragdolls.
Unless you intend the calculations to be done by player stats only. In which case ignore this entire post.
Either way, sounds good. |
