Make it so the only way it could shoot at you is with someone on the turret or if you shoot it. I've only had problems with blaster and missile turrets (that I flew past because I'd run out of ammo before getting it to half armor), the railgun turret is kinda like "Whatever dude" which is how they should be, it only engages when shot..
And let's get one thing clear about installations and vehicle users. We didn't destroy the installations for the free 100-120 wp.(Unless it's a no-show pc match) We destroyed them to eliminate possible threats.

Well, I'm not to positive about this but, I think if you attack an installation it will stay "aggressive" through the entire match. Even if you hack it or after controlling it.

I like the turrets, they make the game more interesting for a pilot and stop me popping them with 1 round of missiles from a tank... Once again we need to get the randoms to take note of this and actually defend/capture them (the ones in our own half at least!) |

I think a better solution would be to give REs a nice big old efficiency bonus against installations. Like 500% damage to them.

Now I've read your post - I've realised despite being an RE cowboy I've never even tried to destroy a turret with them.. Outstanding oversight on my part ridiculous!

The INTENT from CCP's end was supposed to be that the AI (the times when NO player is operating the installation, and the green beam light on the top of the installation is shining green or red), would search for vehicles and immediately engage them when the vehicle is 75m or closer.
(I personally believe the AI should be made more "aggresive" by increasing that 75, to 100... but ok, it's 75m).
Unfortunately, after MONTHS of getting used to squishy and nearsighted gun installations on the maps, MOST players don't know yet how these installations have improved, so most players are still running right passed them and not even worrying to hack or man them. If you've been following this forum, you understand the significant difference of the Charlie changes.... the rest of your team's players will be clueless for quite awhile. Maybe for the next 4 weeks...
When you hack one of these "Charlie version" installations and leave it on AI, it only serves as a very decent DEFENSE or "you can't come through here" weapon. To make it anywhere decent at OFFENSE and ATTACKING targets, you MUST operate it manually.
If you use a MIC at all, start ordering your team to HACK these turrets----they are really making a difference in my match wins, AND my WP totals!

I made this thread based on an experience I had yesterday. It was on the map where E is on one side, C is on the other, A is on a bridge, B is on one side of the bridge and D on the other. On that bridge there are about 6 missile turrets and on the B side there are 2. At the time the enemy had taken all 8 of those turrets and when I went to go hot drop people they ALL focused fire and there wasn't a damn thing I could do about it. "Yeah you could have just flown away" actually, the knock back of about 24 missiles smacking me was screwing up my flight and I crashed.

Sure it was possible, but back then Installations were just WP Pinatas, and really only worked against vehicles that didn't pay attention or were just stupid about it. |

Yes, they were/are always a threat. A neutral or blue will go red the second you aren't focusing on it. There are a lot of people who don't give a crap about your little power player WP game. We care about good strat.

Great thread---because I'm one of thos players who earned my ISK manning installations, when I'm not driving a DS.
I'd like to see the installations improve even FURTHER, in any small way possible, so maybe someone should request this thread be relocated to the Feedback and Requests area.

This is a joke right? The range is only 75m.
Even Missiles are effective at that range, and the amount of times I've stared directly at them while killing them is ridiculous.

If they didnt give me WP i still would have killed it because relying on blue dots to actually watch for turrets turning red and maybe stopping the enemy from hacking it doesnt exist
Even now they get hacked then hacked back and hacked again and really are not used and just take longer to destroy |

Well Takahiro, no, they are getting used SOMEWHAT... Like we observe, "behavior" in this game is not efficiently taught or modified or corrected in players... they, err... learn by "I saw the other player doin' it a lot last night" .
The "other player" was ME last night. Last night I was doing NOTHING but hacking installations, laying down support over the heads of my blues as they try to advance on a Null, getting stabbed by a red with knives, then using the nearest CRU to run RIGHT BACK to the same installation becasue I KNEW it would still be there and that the red that killed me was now hacking the installation. Back-n-forth, losing 10 dropsuits in the constant re-hack/use action---but I wanted players to see they were now being SUPPORTED by these installations (even my lowly blaster installation decapitated 8 reds during the match, eliminated a pesky cloak-scout-w-shotgun whe kept harrassing Objective-E... camped-up the red uplink that was placed on the communications building roof).
Yes, 75m aggressive range is tiny. To use these installations OFFENSIVIELY you have to man them, and that behavior in your teammates will take a while to sink in. Give it time, Takahiro, you'll see!

Sounds like farming WP tbh, all game you can run around and hack em because players always hack everything but they rarely stay around to defend it while all the main objectives are red because who really plays the game mode to begin with |
